  5. Sometimes the fun is in getting there, although I'm guessing it was very testing at stages. But this is why we do it, great friends doing what we enjoy and just getting on with what needs to be done. Things like this happen to test each and everyone of us. I bet Frank, Boris and Corey had a more memorable weekend than most who attended and in the end more fun!

I still can't believe the amount of bad luck you have had though Corey. I hope for your sanity this is the end of it!

  9. Yeah!

We're so ******** we wear latex gloves so our hands don't get dirty!!! :D

Glad you liked it. I actually covered the event for a magazine and they ended up running the busted flathead story as a sidebar, but done like movie frames down each page. It was very cool, although I'm not sure Flatoz agrees! LOL

I'm not entering into which village person I am...

but an update, well have been busy with this motor ( again...) so far 3 rods are down and new ones are being rebuilt the other five are ok, which is something. I needed a new set of pistions as a gouge in the block meant it had to go up bore wise. So its getting there.

here are the 3 offending rods, check out the 2 piston skirt...

who says flathead rods arent strong???

This turned up the other day, so might slow me down some. but the plan is to get the good motor finished and back in the car asap. Was hoping for the CRAKK run this year, but dont think I will make it, but regardless, as long as the old girl is going so I can cruise I will be happy, just got to wait for my little man to be able to enjoy it too.:D While I wont get my motor for xmas, he's a better present anyway.

    Well, I'll say this:

    1. JEEZ HE"S SOOO CUTE! *swoon*
    2. Your rods did better then mine. Mine twisted up like chewing gum around my crank before crashing and melting the skirts of the pistons to the tops. Good OL PONCHO.:D
    3. Go for the biker, he's got a GREAT MO.;)

  22. So is the conrod in the middle the one that tried to escape?

Any forensic evidence on WHAT THE F*&K happened?

Great story, Good to see the motor is getting mended.Looks like it must have stopped with a sudden bang.
Congrats on the little one again.:)

  24. Nah, not too spectacular really. Was kinda noisy, then it made a bang and a bit of a clattering noise and that was it. Flatoz got the clutch in pretty quick and we just coasted to a halt.

    Hey Flatdog,

I would like to think that that was the case, but I was running 98 gas and was cruising at 2100 rpm. Brootal will attest to the fact that I was babying the car and motor, jut cruising. And believe me, I was listening for all and every noise and there was no sound of detonation happening. I didnt take a photo but the alloy cam gear is toast too. it has stripped teeth and the pan was full of it. never seen that before.

One guy reckons that the crank and cam gear might have been meshing too much, as the line bore had been done twice and may be there was too much mesh??

anyway I will be making sure its checked this time around. I got my rods back on monday, so hopefully the motor can go back together very soon.

hoping 3 times in a charm...

Interesting you mention the line bore flatoz. I'm convinced that there is a fundamental cause to this, beyond a blower or tune issues.
