The only 2 things that I miss is the 90 posts per page and when after reading a post and you click back to the main page it would refresh. It seems when I'm reading one page I have to refresh the page to see anything new. Other than that Ryan, you've done a great job on the new board. later shawn
Very much agreed. It seems that the black "V Box" takes me to the most recent post in a thread since my last post... even if my last post was in a completely different thread. Also, I am having trouble with the way the new Buddy list works. Oh, yeah, this might be my browser (Camino 0.8 on Mac OS X), but the PM read receipt thing asks me "Do you want a read reciept...?", but the ****ons say "OK" and "Cancel" instead of "Yes" and "No". Same on the confirmation of a PM that I have recived. I feel like if I hit "Cancel", the message won't get sent/received. I really think the read reciepts would be better handled by a checkbox on the "Create a New PM" page. But I gotta say, even with these quirks, I am really diggin' then new site. As someone else already mentioned, the content is why I am here.
I don't really have any complaints except....... as a lot of others, spell check would be nice. On the plus side the you have given me access to a lot of information that I can take advantage of, for that I thank you. There does seem to be a lot of non car related stuff lately but as someone put it that would happen in any garage where people are shooting the ****. So for what it's worth I'm just glad to able to hang out here.
the photo limiting is a pain in the ****. I usually post at least 8-10 things on the friday art show.
Just don't like the fact that I can't find all the old threads I saved from the old format. Other than that, I like it, especially having the intro's separate.
1. i, too, miss the way we could "name" a link in the old hamb. 2. i wish we could set the default on pm's to "save a copy of this message in the sent folder". quite often i've forgotten to do that and have no record of what i said or who i said it to. 3. i would rather have pix in the thread instead of thumbnails. for all the reasons that have been listed already. 4. even though i've set the default to "do not subscribe" in the "default thread subscription mode" some of the posts i reply to get added to my subscription list. 5. wish we could look at more than 40 posts per page. 6. i agree with kirk about "I liked the old way of searching where it took you to the actual post not just the whole thread." 7. i like the fact that most folks put in some kind of logical location in their new profile. "cute " locations are good for a smile once but after that knowing where someone lives is much more useful. 8. i couldn't care less whether folks post avitars. i keep them turned off 'cause they are a distraction. some of them show up as huge on the screen, leaving the text of the message really narrow. 9. having a working clock would be nice, but would prolly just confuse us 'cause we're used to it being off by several hours. NOTE, HOWEVER: i've listed 9 things i'd i'd like to see changed or at least that i commented on. you can make any changes to the appearance of the site you want and still the reason we come here wouldn't have changed. i'll be here no matter what 'cause of the content. i didn't list all the things i like 'cause that would include all the rest of the features and idiosyncrasies and no one wants that much space wasted.
Well since I'm puter stupid, I might be missing something. Can't figer out how to print a post on a thread. It was easy on the old system. Oh yeah spell check. The rest rocks!!
ryan; here's what i've been trying to remember ever since you first posted this thread (when you get old you'll forget lots of stuff, too): in the "edit options" box; "default thread subscription mode": 1. if you choose "do not subscribe" then you don't get automatically subscribed to threads you reply to, BUT you get an e-mail notification whenever someone replies to any thread that you've subscribed to, OR 2. if you choose "no email notification" then you don't get an e-mail notification whenever someone replies to any thread that you've subscribed to, BUT you get subscribed to all threads that you reply to. can we somehow have the option to do both "do not subscribe" AND "no email notification"?
Ryan- I'm surprised nobody has mentioned my favorite new feature - simply being able to open up a message and have access the entire thread without having to hit the "flat" ****on and wait for it all to appear. Also, I dig the thumbnail previews. Often, the ***les don't give you much of an idea what's up, so being able to catch the first few lines without opening the message really saves time. I also like being able to "drop in" and run through the most recent messages - without having to select the "last two days" deal and wait for all the stuff to load. I haven't tried posting a photo yet, but that was my biggest ***** about the old HAMB. I never did quite figure it out (I could post a single photo in a message, but the multiple deal and connecting to the "photobucket" places was beyond my meager brainpower and limited patience. I hope it will be easier now, as I'm finally getting somewhere on my RPU and will soon have some construction shots to post. BTW - The seperate section for intros is nice too, but I will admit never looking at them any more. Every now and then one would catch my attention before. Good for the old hands I guess, but maybe not so good for the "newbs". In general - I like the new deal a lot. Thanks again for this place and all you guys do.
What ever happened to the Cool HAMB logo up top. IT looks like was done have fast. and uploading your avatar is ******* me off... that needs to be rethought But im starting to get a hold of it. did a good job so far
Love most things about it thou I do have two issues... I my eyes do not like the background color/ stylefont (not sure which one but my eye bug out after a while). I wish the PM was simpler to manage (takes more time to keep up on it (erasing received and sent notes.... and I do not care for having to take time to click on a reply pop up to show I read it.)
