I have some questions on throttle linkage or gas pedal travel .
see the attached graph and the bottom is the carb linkage travel for idle to wot.(Wide open throttle). Is a one to one ratio ok or will it be too much throttle too fast. There is a 3" and 4" which will slow down the travel ratio of pedal to wot. What is acceptable. The one to one would best for me as I do not have a lot of room for pedal travel.
Thank You for your time .

  3. i would think that 3-5/8" travel from idle to WOT is fine

One to one is fine, and in some cases I go less if I'm working with lots of HP. I've got about 1.5 to 1 on my Falcon with the higher HP, but 1 to 1 on my Austin's 327.

    from an experience:
'56 chevy 210, stock pedal linkage all solid, no cable, on the other end was a Holley throttle body F.I. Put the stuff together and the car ran/drove fine. BUT, from a suggestion from someone, I lengthened the arm at the throttle body. Made the car MUCH easier to drive and the MPG went up. I've got no idea of the ratio's. Just a tid-bit from my experience.

Did it still give you full throttle?

Yup, there was enough travel, on both ends.

I switched carbs on my '41 and lever on the new carb was shorter and gave a quicker pedal response but wasn't hard to get used to.

I think just about every setup is different. It depends on the carb, linkage and pedal ***embly, and everyone is different. In my T Bucket, whether it was a cable or the mechanical linkage I have now, I set the carb at WOT and adjusted/measured my setup from there. I thijnk I have 4" of pedal travel, but that's fine for me. I also use a soft spring, so I guess it's a "hair trigger", but again, I like it that way.

Just measure and adjust to find out what works for you. That's a nice diagram, but way to much thought on something simple.
