^ yeah, thats a great idea.

The 2nd linkage thing bothers me. I think the throttle shaft bushings are worn and the vacuum when running is causing the ****erflys not to close

  2. Prior to your rebuild, it wasn't fine, the secondaries were disconnected because they bind.
Apparently that problem hasn't been corrected.
And apparently there is now a new problem with the primaries.
If the P.O. bolted a junk carb on or screwed up the rebuild is an unknown.
    Get a new one.

That info would have been nice in the first post instead of "There is absolutely no binding" blah blah

  6. Don't bother me one bit, it just wastes time, sends others on a unicorn hunt and let's others whom maybe actually trying to help a fellow HAMBer who they are working with.

I read Post history and so do others. I hope that's ok with you.

    31Vicky with a hemi - you are right, the P.O did bolt up a ****ed up carb, . . . . . . . . . . . Definitely time for a new carb or .. . . . some other option

    from tulsa, ok

One thing I've learned through the years is that having your return springs pull from the same direction that your throttle cable pulls will cause premature throttle shaft bushing wear. When the springs are mounted forward the pull from the throttle cable and the pull from the springs counteract each other so the wear is very minimal. Not saying that is your only problem, but worth doing if you buy a new carb.

For what this might be worth; I had a Ranger p/u with a 2300 and Holley with after mkt air cleaner that had no way to hook up the manifold stove pipe.
Humidity is always high here, and any time the temp got into the 30's, the throttle would freeze because of ice that formed in venturi's. It happened frequently after driving even short distance at road speed and motor completely warm. It had electric choke that worked perfectly.
It was a stick and I could shut it off, but if it were an auto, I don't know what I would have done.
I'm in the Nashville region, looks you're in Decatur where the humidity might be even higher.
Just food for thought, because mine ran perfectly until the air temp got below 40. Then surprise ! Throttle iced up from cold air in despite if the motor was red hot.
With venturi's that manifold heat stove is necessary, especially here in the south. A good tuned port would fix this very nicely.
Don't know for certain on yours, but just saying what happened to me; Tom S. in Tn.
