    Hello all,
I just picked up a set of these thrush side pipes, only i know nothing more that they are apparently rare. Who has more info on em? They appear to be old because the pipe inside of em is completely discintigrated.

Most of 'em were on cars with 14" long shackles & those neat red metalflake screwon headrests.

1970s A big thing in the van craze of that era. "Keep on trucking":D I hooked up an ass load of them on vans. I never liked them but that was just me. We went to look at a set of "factory Corvette side pipes" one night and this is what the guy pulled out.

    Cool...Retro-cool..........

Made to look like 63-67 'vette sidepipes

Have you ever priced the stock GM Restoration Parts 63-67 'vette side pipes? The freakin' covers are now $600.00 for each side.

Total kit price is about $1500 bucks.

Hard to beat the sound though of a big block mid-year vette with factory side pipes.

  11. I seem to remember them as a very late 60's / 70's kind of thing

Those side pipes must only be used with bell bottomed pants and platform shoes.

Had 'em on a '67 Camaro and a '71 Maverick Grabber

  17. I installed a set on my 1968 Corvette roadster around 1971 because the Corvette accessory side pipes were out of reach financially for a punk-ass street racer as myself only making $8900 per year.
Payments on my new '70 GTO ram air were $69./month, the Corvette was $109./month, and rent for our apartment with a big oversize 2 1/2 car garage was $250./month.
Had to save our money wisely so we could spend it on cars and parties in those days.
My wife hated those pipes. She was constantly burning her legs while in "hot-pants" or "mini-skirts" back then.
I seem to remember a lot of conversion vans and late 60's Camaros running them too in the late 60's and 70's
Mine ate up mufflers at the rate of 1 or 2 every year. I kept spare Thrush inserts in the garage for the weekend drill maintaining those pipes.
I put it back to stock when she became pregnant and couldn't climb over the pipes several years later.
