bottom line is jack it up and do some detective work. might find some other things that need attention too - how old are tires / brakes / front shocks? check frame too.
Jalopy Joker you are so right. Seems everytime I'm under my car doing routine maintenance I find a loose nut here a worn bushing there. Or something that is going to need attention soon. Time flies by when we are out driving having fun! Joe Sent from my SM-G900V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The car is on jack stands as I type this,I do regular maintenance and with the exception of a damp wheel cylinder which I rebuilt nothing is loose or damaged. HRP
In NASCAR racing they determine the amount the spring rate changes over the length of the race to have the rate they want at the end of the race.
For springs, call Eaton and talk to their tech guys. I’m very happy with the springs I got from them in the spring. I think they recommend QA1 shocks, too. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Springs make great knifes. Of course they have to be straight. I made some out of old truck springs that amazed a dude I was working with, chopping tule weeds around a pond. I fashioned them up with a set of rollers and a grinder. The edge was almost indestructible. Those of course, would be leaf springs, which we're not talking about. High drift factor today.
HRP it sounds to me like you have more a bad shock than a bad spring. If a spring is getting that tired it generally will sit the car lower on that side-coil or leaf-where if the shock is bad it will do just what you describe. In any case glad there was no damage.
