  1. Cult classic. Filmed in and around Asheville, N. C. I must have watched it a hundred times and I'll watch it again.:D s-l1600.jpg

Since it is in their film noir series, it will play on Sat night, 9:00 PM west coast time, and repeat Sunday Morning at 7:AM. That is TCM's weekly format. Good movie, I must have seen it 100 times, since the drive in when I was 10. Luke could thump a cigarette at high speed, with pin point accuracy !

  4. ..Thanks for that update. I didn't mention the midnight showing here on the East Coast..:D...Some of us "old" folks can't stay up that late!...Then again, some of us may not get up in time to watch the 10:00 am Sunday show!!:(

Missed seeing that 58 Edsel shown on the poster every time I watched TR. Guess I'll have to pay closer attention. Another poster shows Luke holding a revolver which never appeared in the film. He carried a Colt 1911 .45 and a shotgun.

  14. I never get tired of that one. Most of that movie was filmed in the Asheville, N.C. area. A college buddy of mine grew up there. He was among the onlookers when they filmed the scene where they blew up the car in the gas station.

I think I saw the movie once or twice; I wouldn't get up early nor stay up late for it. AND I forgot to set the recorder.

Yes it did have a 50 fender on the left. Kind of like the mismatch of parts on Luke’s Ford. But they could have used 2 different cars. I think I have a DVD of the movie, maybe it deserves a second look.

My wife & I were on our honeymoon in February, 1966, in Niagara Falls. Thunder Road was playing on the hotel TV that night at 1:00am and I stayed up to watch it, which pissed my new bride off. She got over it and we'll be married for 57 years in a few weeks. Oh, yeah, she's really into cars now, too

Sorry, off topic, but every time I hear about Thunder Road, I think about our first fight.

  23. I watched it, so did my girl friend at her place. We both like Mitchum.

Lean back in your chair, close your eyes, & imagine you're partying with Mitchum & Shelly Winters ....
