I saw them FILM parts of that movie ... in Asheville ...
    Yes ... that makes me ... OLD ... :(

Cool movie ... and not really all Hollywooded up ... like a lot of movies. There were a good number of folks in the moonshine business back then.

    Great flick! Mitchum a bad-ass!

Anyone notice when he's being chased in one of the earlier scenes he flips his shoebox. Then in the next shot its back on all fours and drives away. I guess that one got by the editor.

I was 15 years old When I seen the movie for the first time. It started me on a downward spiral. I bought a 50 club coupe, thru a 351 Cleveland, fmx tranny in her. Got married and had to see her. A year ago I was in an antique store I bought a 50's jukebox, inside was a 45 record the theme song from thunder road song sung by Robert Mitchum.

Going to see Thunder Road this weekend at the Judy Drive-In , Mt. Sterling,KY. I'm almost giddy thinking about seeing another classic movie on that big wood tower while hanging out with other car people.

  13. Just watched the DVD the other night. Always loved that movie...except the 6 cylinder sounds from V-8 cars. Pretty common for the era when that film was made. I never figured out why they movie guys couldn't get recordings of V-8's, except maybe they just couldn't tell the difference...

    A great movie anyway.

Got to be one of my favorites too, I have an old VHS copy that I did out
every several months to watch. Lots of boopers in it, but what the heck,
it still is a good car movie.

Moonshining is still alive and well in Howell County Missouri, an entire family just got busted last week, 70 something father, son and mother, Feds said
it was the biggest still they found in the past 5 years. Seems the family
was supplying all the local bars in addition to selling the moon off their
farm.....who would have thought a real working operation for more than
personal use...hey they could have been selling the stuff for ethonal?
