well, I've never started one of these and didnt want to wait haha.

Im reposting last weeks work, because I had quite a few questions on how I took it from sketch to final product with photoshop. Now Im new to photoshop, so Im not going to get into techniques (cause there are probably better ways of doing things that I dont know yet). But here is the 54 chev in progression, I primarily use the pen tool and the airbrush and essentially "paint" the picture. Hope this helps those who asked.

  2. Thankx for the insight ynottayblock; I really must try to use Photoshop more; see if it works for me as well. I do most of my stuff in Illustrator.

    Here's my alter-ego's self-portrait: Idiot's Delight...

    C'est Français Hot Rod
Ettore Bugatti would likely be spinning in his grave
like a lathe if he could see this.

This is NOT a Bugatti Atlantic Elektron Coupe.
Only guys like Ralph Lauren can afford one of those.

What I did here started out as a HAMBers 37 Plymouth Sedan.
I chopped, sectioned, shortened and gave it the look-alike spines
that run down the middle of the body and fenders. I think it comes
close to simulating one of the most elegant automobiles ever produced.

    PLUS... it's hot rodded!
An exposed straight eight with fuel injection, alloy wheels,
dropped front axle and suicide doors round out the look.

    I give you the Fauxgatti.

  14. Thankx Robin B; I drew a modern style crescent-wrench for my monster first, just like the one in your picture but then I found a photo of an old style Ford monkey-wrench and changed it.

    Mezzo
; your work is excellent; I love the Sinner's Prayer piece. Thought it was actual oil paint when I saw it first; awesome!

Just gettin into sketchin the rods. Here is my dream build, a 30' A sedan shortened and chopped with a bed. Kinda 60's surf inspired. I really dig it.

Zombie, great work on the Buick longroof. I love wagons.
I did this Camaro illustration in marker, colored pencil, lead pencil and white gouache for highlights. It was a commission for a friend who is going to give it to his father-in-law(his car) for Christmas.
