I get a letter in the mail yesterday telling me I have a warrant in Garland. I tried to call them today. I was waiting for an operator for 15 minutes, not exaggerating. I hung up, called back and now the system hangs up on me. So I finally get a hold of someone. This ticket is from 1998! I am 90% sure I already paid for this ticket too, but since I have move 4 times and most my possesions are in storage 2.5 hours away I don't have any proof. Aside from all that it is $335 to get a court date for a $185 ticket. It's just a giant money making scam. Why did they wait 6 years to issue a warrant? why can't I represent myself and contest it without paying 2x the ticket? It's ******* me off and the only thing I can do is just give them money....what they want. I hate the grip they have on us about this stuff. You're not allowed to defend yourself in this damn city.
I recently got a ticket in Brookline M***achusetts for, what I ***ume was parking backwards in a parking space. Mine was the only car with a ticket on it, there were no signs anywhere saying you COULDN'T back into a space, the car had front plates, so that shouldn't have been a problem. I was in a lot that was designated for overnight offstreet parking- at least, there were NO signs saying you couldn't. Same lot where the GF parks her car at night, and where I'd parked overnight 4 times already that week, but on the ticket it said "Unauthorized Offstreet parking." The following week, she got a ticket in Boston, for parking on the street during street sweeping hours, she walked up and down the street looking for a sign and found NOTHING. Then she asked the meter maid, who was right there wriging tickets, where the sign was. "I don't have time for this right now," was the response. I know where the REAL crooks are in the greater Boston area!
