I have a question for the group.
On my 53 F100 I have a dropped axle (unknown origin)
I have the spacers that drop the tie-rod ends for pan clearance.
Every time I look at them I cringe, it just seems wrong.
I see Speedway has dropped tie rod ends to achieve the same thing.
Has anyone a part number for these tie rod ends from moog or another quality manufacturer?
Or has anyone used the speedway parts and had success?

Thanks in advance for your advice.....

This may be OT to your F100 but there is a Chev dropped tie rod end for a 1960s Chevrolet -- MOOG 675 ....

Dropped tie rod ends are hard to find, this may have an application on a hot rod, perhaps with an adapter.

I just yesterday removed a pair of the Speedway drop rod ends because they both failed after 11kms on the road.
I am in the process of fitting the drops with nos Ford rod ends.

    English Bob ,

Thank you for the info, I was worried about the "Quality" of the item from Speedway.
    What failed on yours?

The way the drops bolt on to the steering arm, simply does not look like it is proper. The shear load is all on the bolt.

Do any suspension professionals here agree, or am I worrying for nothing?

    Thanks

Nostalgia Sid sells a nice tie rod drop. Super sturdy. My truck is a 1960, so I'm not exactly sure if they also fit the earlier Fords. Check him out at his website.

As for all the shear being on the bolt, the bolt on Sid's is way sturdier than the tie rod itself.

I would not use spacers of that sort ever, at all!

Talk about dangerous...if on fails (and it will given enough time, maybe tomorrow, maybe next month) it will cause grief, big time!

That's what I'm waiting to fit.
