another one for the miller 200 if possible, i have a miller syncrowave 180, and it works great. the 200 looks like a great machine..doesnt hurt to haggle the store on a welder either, i got my for a few hundred less!

I just bought my first TIG last week. It came in yesterday. I'll be frank, so far all I can really do with it as of now is turn it on and frig up my tungsten really bad. It shouldn't take long to learn.

The machine I bought was the Miller Diversion 180. I checked Miller's site and they are retailing at $2200, I paid considerably less. They have quite a markup on these machines. It runs off either 110v or 220v, has both a foot pedal and thumb control. Its marketed for "hobbyists", and has one of those dummy charts for easy tuning. Only weighs about 50lbs, and could fit real nicely beneath your x-mas tree ;)

When I pull into the parking lot of the local welding shop the car radio gets messed up from the welding, what effect will a home welder have on TV and computers etc? Can someone weld in the garage at the same time the family is watching TV or on line? Is there special electrical hookups that need to be made? Will all TIG units also work on Aluminum or is this option only on some units? Having my own TIG welder is a far off dream. Merry Christmas! Bob

For me the new inverter rigs are so nice it would be hard to go back to the old technology....
