    Hey guys,
I picked up a new #20 tig torch after I burned up the power cable on my old one the other day. The torch and the hoses came neatly coiled up in a box and now when I weld the hoses want to go back to that coil shape and I wind up fighting that while trying to hold the torch in the proper oreintation and angle. Its not that big of an issue when welding on the bench but it's a major pain when doing work in a tight or awkward position...welds I made yesterday under the car will have to be redone.

I'm wondering if anyone has a solution to this? I'm thinking of stretching the hoses out in the sun and seeing if that helps take the "coil" out of the hoses.

    thanks

A couple days out in the warm sun layed flat has always cured this for me, same with airhoses.

  3. What is this "sun" thing you speak of?

Not on a bet. I live in the desert and fully use it to my advatage. Workig with vinyl for interiors, lay it out in the sun and it stretches like rubber. Mounting a tire, let it get soft in the sun, and easier to mount. Rain rain, go away.

I knew the reference to the sun would tighten some jaws!

I'll stretch the hoses out this weekend...watch, that'll probably break our drought.

In my best scarlet o hare

-9 this morning but that's ok because it went up 17 degrees already to 8*.
Lay anything outside and it will crack.
Ups dropped of some parts and they were so cold I couldn't touch them for an hour.

31, should we send them truck load of the cold white , wet stuff??? , and I don't mean paint ....

  17. No, the **** will melt long before it gets there.
I say we have them start scouting for houses and shops for us and when we move we then have a snow shovel meltdown event.

-10 tonight with windchills in the -30 area.

as for shipping it I have access to some refers that go to -40 for hard frozen foods , so it will be still good when it gets there ..my one buddy a few years back imported some snow to Texas from Wisconsin for some guy ..

Just bring the shovels, when it hits 120+ degrees here, they will melt on their own.

The sun thing works, and I put a nice woven cover with a zipper on it on my setup, I think it helps.

    Holy ****...an "on topic" reply:)

Thanks, I'm going to try the sun thing and I do have a woven cover over the hoses, taped to the torch with electrical tape.
Of course now they're predicing rain...first time since November I think.
