For those who have just joined this thread, I know the translation for each of the 4 dials, but I would now like to know what each dial does for me and how it influences the welding process???

The toggle, bottom right, i'd say switches the pulse function on an off. Switch it off and then the peak current knob is all you'll need to get you going. I have a tig with pulse function and never use it.

Strange that the machine has pulse but no obvious facilities for slope in / out and pre / post gas flow.

If you've welded before (gas / mig / stick) you should get it pretty quick. Otherwise it might be worth getting cl***es or some instruction from a buddy?
Lots of help on youtube too.

I think you have a great conversation piece, especially if you manage how to read / use it properly!

Yes, I regularly use a MIG welder and can stick weld but dont much anymore.
Gas welding I was never that good at it due to lack of practice mostly.
    Thanks for the info.

The library and your local community college are both excellent resources.

There is a Monster Garage book out there, Think it's called How to Weld Damn Near Anything...it's a reprint of an earlier book, but in color. It has pretty good step by step instructions, we keep ours on top of the tig machine, so the guys can refer to it. Not too technical, and great for beginners.
