About 1962 four of us took my friends '55 Fairlane down for upholstery. 2 of us would stay with the car and the other 2 went off and had fun then they'd come back and we took off..... "my mother she's a virgin" how many times did you hear that?

I grew up in Yuma, AZ and we used to take stuff down to Algodones and San Luis in the early 80's to get done. Plus, they served me beer :D

Took my 40 Ford 2-door (56 Pontiac motor) to TJ, paid around $200 for blue and white tuck & roll, job was not perfect, but cost was the factor, would have paid at least twice or 3 times that much in LA.

Of course, being in TJ and 19 years old, we did other stuff as well, no drinking age, and, well, other stuff that you never tell your parents about. Stupidly I drank too much, and tried to find the border, remember driving through a dry river bed, then the next thing was the border patrol stop near Camp Pendleton. The cops pulled us over, and searched my car..."you boys bringing anything back from Mexico," he growled....Oh, I hope not! said I

Had my '56 F-100 done there in the early 60's. seat, door panels, kick panels, carpet and headliner in black tuck for about 80 bucks. Hung out at the blue fox for a few hours and it was done. Interior lasted for years.

Took my 49 shoe box in 51 and had a complete job done cause it was real cheap and they did a good job where we took ours. The upholstery shops were like any other place. They had good s***chers and bad ones. Once you found out who did the good stuff thats where you went.

Back in the 50,s, was the only way for some of us to afford tucknroll. looked good for the price, the only trick was to bring your own thread becuz the TJ stuff wasnt supposed to be any good. Never knew anyone that did that, and it lasted good enuff for the amount of time we would own a car. And if ya needed to get a quikie uphostery job TJ cudnt be beat. A set of TJ threads and Von Dutch striping and you were cool.

It's not tucked, just sewn in a diamond pattern. No, I didnt do it. You are semi local, let me know if you want some contact info for the shop.............he works cheap, $425 for the seat and panels.

When I first bought my 52 chevy the previous owner claimed the car had an old TJ job on it. I was hoping it was in good condition...hehe

when it was first done I bet it was NICE...when I got the car it had been in the sun/heat for so long that when you touched it...it disintegrated.

I am for sure interested in the contact info. I want to get my wifes falcon done and mine done for sure.
