Here's a local one. The first pic is looking up at the boards from the driver's seat. detail of the killer striping by Eyebone.
I've always liked this "Surf Woody" out of the Barris Custom Shops. I believe Dick Dean did most of the fabrication, and it was drawn up by Tom Daniel. It doesn't have any "old car" body parts but has the open wheel stance of a hotrod in much the same way Roth's, (Joe Henning's?) Beatnik Bandit does. (photo "borrowed" from http://barris.com/gallery_surfwoody.html ) There was also a bizarre "movie car" called the ZZR for a movie called "Out of Sight" and I think I saw it used in a cell phone commercial last year. (also "borrowed" on George's dime)
While not a "real" car yet... begging to see it get done!! (drew it up for a buddy, and he has since sold his parts pile due to financial issues)... someone please do this car!! ...and that Suburban is bad-ass.
I'm curious what bad stuff you've heard about it. I'd like to know more about the car. I think I saw it referred to as the LB Tiki or soemthing to that effect. What's the dish, DetroitBilt?
Right back atcha flying polock. Love your sketch. Dig the proportions of your concept. Tell me about the car. a I'm guessing a 27T, unchopped, heavily channeled, Z'd, etc. Maybe I'll have to build it. Righteous!
WHATEVER it was, it doesn't need to be rehashed. Tiki Diablo here did work on the interior of that car. If anyone needs any info, I'm sure he can answer any questions.
Just read the whole thread on the cross country trip. That is too cool. Makes me want to quit my job and drive my Suburban across country. Goodman is the man. But let's not forget the guy who screwed the car together. Props all around. Great read! Thanks for the heads up on the thread!
Here are a couple of shots of my 58 Mercury Colony Park. It's currently off the road for a little body work. Add me to the list of Hambers who surf. I've been a C-st dawn patroller for over 10 years. What an awesome town this is to live in! I could be paddling out ten minutes from now. Summer is not good for waves around here unfortunately.
http://www.tikidiablo.com/ Danny's a top guy. Probably still workin' on the Mission Tiki Drive-In theatre though, so can be hard to get hold of sometimes.
Thanks Wayne, yeah been busy missing all the fun working on the Mission tiki. 8ft tall easter island heads in a garden. Well 99% of my work is actually fun to me. Here is what I have done lately there.
I dig this thread... I'm building a 69 C-10 longbed tikistyle. It's still in the planning stages, but I have the truck (good start!). - Joe www.tikicult.com
Hi Here are some photos of our 59 Chevy wagon, called The Headhunter, which is tiki style. I have put as many photos as I can on for you, it has been around for a few years now. Also have coming out in a few weeks a 62 Chevy Suburban which will be tiki style too, so will post some photos when finished!
TIKI-Rific thread! can't beleive all the cool cars out there. What a great way to seperate yourself from the mainstream. I hate the mainstream, that's where all the fish get hooked! Big Tiki Party, in Ft. Lauderdale at The Mai Kai, October 8th? Here is the link www.hukilau.com JT
I have been thinking of driving to this event in my soon to be finished coupe. I am vending there and the organizer was goin to do a car show last year. Now a car show in the lot of the Mai Kai would be great! The Mai Kai has got to be the BEST tiki bar in the whole world hands down! And I have been to a few of them. So the trick is to get a convoy going out there the hit the HUNERT CAR PILEUP on the way back. Sorry for the OT.
