In part of my misspent youth, on one of my MANY 56 Chevrolet's, I got the idea in my head for a tilt, fibergl***, front end. I located a really nice one piece, fibergl***, front end, and built a supportive "cage" for it. The "secret" to me, was to have the pivot point as low as possible, to avid having to pull the trailing edges of the fenders out "too" much. Then a guy came along who offered me twice of what I had paid, and I bolted together the stock, steel hood and fenders. The tilt worked great, the trailing edges of the fenders not-so-much; it still took two people to tilt it forward. And, it rested perfectly on the hood bird attached to the hood when tilted forward. In all honesty, it was one of the absolute dumbest things I've ever done to a 56 Chevrolet. I also used VW fender welting between the hood/fender gaps, and on the plus side, they are paintable. Just glad I got that out of my system, and I'd never do it again. Ever! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
