This is my 1948 Ford F1 pickup I have been working on for the past 7 years. I bought the truck at 12 years old and have been working on it ever since side by side with my dad. The build is going for a 1950s traditional factory hot rod kind of theme, but with an exception of hidden late model running gear. It has a 292 Y-block with 312 heads, forged rods and pistons, supercharger crank, 3-2 manifold, ram horn headers, an 8.8 reared out of a Ford F-150, an overdrive auto tranny out of a Ford Explorer, Mustang II IFS, and coil overs in the front leafs in the back.

The truck rarely goes on the trailer because its such a pain in the ass to load and is just too low. But theres nothing wrong with that, just means it wont be a trailer queen when finished.

Well, being third isn't good . but nice truck ,good job. And time and money is always a problem ,unless you spend all your time making money. Then there is no need for money. Good luck on the project. Jack

Yep, when you have the time you have no money, when you have the money you have no time. Most of us face that very same problem, but it sure is sweet when you finally get the car on the road.:)

Great looking truck and you are getting very close........hang in there.

You have done a great job on your truck. Remember all good things take time. There's no sense in rushing through only to screw some thing up which usually costs money to re-do. Good luck with your truck.

It hasn't seemed to affect the quality/vision of your build. Nice Job!!

  17. It's looking real nice..good job!
It's a keeper, try to hang on to this one.
Many of us wish we had kept our first car.
And the trailer thing, wouldn't worry about that..should be in front of the trailer anyway.

Nice looking truck DG. Great to see such a young guy getting started in such a great hobby. Nice stance and perfect choice on the wheels.I know what a pain it is to get low race cars on the trailer. I back the rear wheels of my tow rig onto ramps which lowers the rear of trailer significantly. My rams are 6 ft. This gets rid of the angle between ramps and trailer. Plus I have to winch on as they have 3 disc clutch and are as wide as the trailer.

A nice looking truck and well thought out. Your father is very fortunate to have a son like you that can share in the passion. Money and time is only secondary to the time shared with your father.

  22. Looking good! Nice to see a Y block in there.

  23. ...you guys have done a fine job on that truck; lookin very good. I love those

Truck looks great. Burnt Ranch isn't too far from me. Are you local to the area?

Hank the stock leaf springs were replaced by a leaf spring kit from TCI . 2 inch lowering blocks. C-notched and boxed frame.

Thanks guys there was no way in hell i was gonna put a chevy in this thing. A SBC sure is cheaper but everybody does it and just doesn't look right when something is done perfectly and the mill just ruins the entire deal.

Crusty my dad grew up in Weaverville but I'm from more south in a little town called Loyalton just north of Truckee/Lake Tahoe. I bought the truck from Lee White though.

Looks like your doing pretty good to me with the time vs money paradox.

Here's what I've learned, you can't ever get back lost time nor can you make even one second. You can't get back lost dollars either but you can always make more money.
