  1. Well it wasn't raining on the west side on Washington today. So no better way than to go for spin in my 35(Ole Saphire !) Ford. They just reopened the Murray Morgan(100 years old) bridge here in Tacoma after being closed for six years and a two plus year restoration. Drove around Tacoma and across the bridge... Relaxing ! :D NOW with pictures !:D

  4. Lets' get a look at that bridge Rob. I remember going up and down the tiny switchback ramps when I was a kid. I bet they did not redo that part did they?

  5. take the 'ol gal out again on Sunday and take your camera this time,,photos of the bridge would be cool. HRP

  6. will shoot some ! The bridge was original 4 lanes, now two lanes with bike paths and side walks. Heavy trucks are no longer permitted to drive across it. They are going to have a formal reopening on Feb 15th, per The Tacoma New Tribune... This bridge was going to be demolished... But public out cry won out, and was saved... Money well spent . Thanks Tacoma, you got this one right !

  9. The Thea Foss waterway in Tacoma... Tacoma Dome in back ground and The Lemay museum... Dock Street on the right down below... Martinac Shipping building down on the left were the crane is.. Under the bridge Tacoma Fire Boat Station ( still open ? budget cuts )

  10. ...how long is that bridge?

  11. Good question, I don't know that ... but will find out if you need to know !

  12. ...just curious, looks long,...I googled it but no length listed, towers are 207 feet high. Is the lift section still in operation?
...about an hour from me is the Savanna-Sabula bridge over the Mississippi; it's slated to be replaced in the next year or so. It was built in 1932 and has an open mesh-type deck with cross-hatched metal ribs;...it's weird driving over because your tires follow the ribs. I hope they save this one and use it as a bike/walking bridge and just build a new one beside it. I can't imagine what it would take to dismantle it but the scrap would be worth a lot....here's a pic of it...it's 2482 feet long...it's the 3rd oldest bridge still in use across the Miss. River.
