Decided to update my 52 Dodge PU. First is to move the side saddle fuel tank to the rear. Second in re-do the bed from wood to steel bed floor. Third, if it can be done is fab brackets for power steering.

I removed the old wood bed this past week. Also, removed a piece of box tubing that was hitting the top of the rear end. image1.jpeg

IMG_5126.jpeg This is the current tank. I took the measurements off the Tanks Inc site and compared the measurements from the back of the frame. Looks like it will work. I should mention that I’m moving the tank to make room for a OD trans I just purchased IMG_5126.jpeg

The box tubing circled is what I removed. Also will have to re-route the exhaust around the tank image1.jpeg

I ran a 25 gallon gas tank out of a 70s Chrysler behind the rear axle of the 54 Dodge pickup I built. I had to modify the rear crossmember for it to fit. That tank had a rear facing fill tube that ended up behind the rear plate. On a hard acceleration with a full tank of gas, it would dump a little (enough to discolor the plate and leave a wet spot on the pavement) out of the vented cap and around the cap's seal, until it was down to around 3/4 tank, after that it was good.
I learned not to accelerate hard, when the tank was full.
Just wanted to point out that where that rear tank fills can be pretty important.
