Time For Roadster Refurbish, HiBoy?

Well started taking the 32 apart to do a refurbish and now that I have all the fenders and aprons and two large dog dishes full of nuts and bolts I think It may come back as a Hi Boy. It is still going to come all the way down to the frame but I love the way it looks now and I am now fabricating headlight mounts etc. I liked it full fendered but this looks way cool to me!

What is there to be "refurbished"?? Looks like your work is done!

 

I knew that would come up. I have always built my own cars and I did not do this one although I have done a ton of work on it. I am not going to be happy until I touch every nut and bolt. I will be fixing some things and making some mechanical improvements as well. That way I can drive it without thinking about it.

 

That car looks great, with or without fenders.......Don.

It looks great either way but from what I've seen over the years is that cars with fenders usually get driven more and get driven further.

IMHO it just looks so classy with the fenders on. I really like hi boys but I would keep the fenders on this one. However, it is yours and you will do what makes you happy which is all that really matters.

I know Mr Ford painted his fenders black, but do you think it would look more 'hotrodish' all one colour?

Its getting to (or past?) the point where a car with fenders is a real rarity.

It looks great without the fenders. If you put them back on paint them the same color as the body. I looks more like a Hot Rod that way. just my opinion-

 

Leave the fenders in the storage area!

 

Good looking car either way.....tough call. I guess I vote for no fenders, but hang on to them in case you change your mind down the road.

Taking the fenders off changed it from street rod to hot rod.It's a beauty either way,but I've always been a hiboy guy,so I vote no fenders.
I like the existing colors with or without fenders.

I was just looking at your avitar the other day thinking how great your car looks with the fenders and top. The stance and top height are nailed perfectly- VERY hard to get right- and yours is PERFECT!!!

It's funny I have been saying all the same stuff you guys are to myself. I think I am going to go Hiboy for awhile. I can always put the fenders back at some point. Anyway I have work to do! Thanks for all the input. What a great site!

As a LONG TIME 32 roadster guy ... I have had a 32 Hiboy and a 32 full fendered roadster.

The Hiboy looks cool and all but they really make a mess of the paint. Rocks and road debris thrown up ... I even had a windshield cracked by a rock thrown up by the front tire ( I was turning sharply ).

Everyone should have at least one 32 Hiboy roadster ... in their life.

Save all the stuff you take off ... so when you want to go back to fenders ... you can do so easily.
