Time For Roadster Refurbish, HiBoy?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ct1932ford, Oct 22, 2011.

  1. I always find an extra 2 head bolts...weld a huge lock washer [on it's side] to the top of the head bolt [makes a handy loop] and put the chain-hook in the loop..an old trick I learned from my dad....I've got a selection of them in my tool box.

  2. Did not want to touch heads at this point no need to. Looks like exhaust manifold bolts but will need strap or fab brackets to get the chain away from marking heads.

Glad you got it out. K.R. Wilson made a tool that fits inside the lifter valley for pulling these engines. Good luck on finding one. However Antique Auto Parts Inc. in Rosemead, CA offers a knock off. I have pulled dozens of complete flatheads with mine and would recommend it. Part number 6000-E Lift. They are at 626-288-3131 but can be hard to reach, try after noon Pacific time Wed-Sat.

  7. that's brilliant, thanks.

  8. That looks easy! Motor is out and so is my desk top PC. cannot post photos until I get this thing working. I would rather be in the garage anyway.

  9. Well I just got my PC up and running! What a pain in the ass! Anyway I am ready to send the frame, firewall and a ton of parts out to be blasted this week. I made some bolt in box plates in an area that needed some beefing up. Also went over the frame looking for and correcting/welding any cracks etc. all in all not too bad! Oh the guy on the phone with the fur collar is going to paint my frame. Hope he does not get any cat hairs in it:eek:

  17. I'm a huge fan of Hi Boys, but I like it better with the fenders. Also it is so much harder to build a nice cars with fenders that fit properly that to me it becomes a "badge of Honor" when you have one with that is done right!

No, we have a cat free household. However I do have the mummified possum from the Dick Greene estate clean out in the garage.

Its a beautiful car no doubt ! But if you do leave the fenders off change those upper front shock mounts to F1s DAMN that thing is sweet!

  23. Already filled the holes. Going back to lever shocks! That is one fine blonde in your Avatar!

  26. talked to the sandblaster about your chassis, his 100 hp, state of the art, over complicated, air compressor, is broke down. so he is behind. we should see the frame by the end of the week. ordered the plum crazy purple paint that i think will complement the orange you chose for the wheels, and the green for the upholstery.:D

  27. Been in the garage every day and now on the way to the doctors. Sore throat and feel like crap! Must be all that spray dust,:eek:sandblast dust, dirt dust:eek: now I have to wait until the wife is out to go in the garage:cool:
