Time For Roadster Refurbish, HiBoy?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ct1932ford, Oct 22, 2011.

  1. Well another step closer today. After finding a small hairline crack in one of the original motor mounts that got me sidetracked. (I removed it, vied it out and brought it into the kitchen and heated it at 350 for 10 minutes. Wife was out so it seemed like a good idea. Welded it up and repainted the mount. Funny the meatloaf had a metallic taste tonight. Oh well, I did get back to the frame. Brakes bled and adjusted. Back down on all fours. Steering in. Sorry I did not get photos of the motor mount project, but you know how it is, you just don't want to stop! Motor is next!

Would a microwave be too rapid a warming, or is the oven just traditional?

I will say first of all that the car is awesome, love the tu=tone, stance, and it is spot on for me. I love that you can take this car to a couple of great looks and have a little spice in your life, with an open wheel car streaming down a wet hi-way throwing huge rooster tails is damn cool! Great change and hi-boy till ya want a full-fendered again. Presto! Win Win as I see it. Really dig this roadster, rock on man. ~ sololobo~

  8. that exhaust does looks good. who made it?

  9. Got the system from Lynn Stringer. It is made for Fenton headers. Since I am running Reds, I had to do modifications to the 2 front pipes. I used what he had sent but ended up cut and welding drivers side but used pass side pipe. Anyway it all worked out and it is all Stainless Steel. Lynn is a great guy to do buisness with.

Stainless, that explains why there aren't any bends, angle cuts and welds. All that nice work that will get hidden with a body.

Damn I love that car.... I thought it would be hard to improve on, but looks like I was wrong. It is looking great. Are you keeping the body colors the same?

    Keep the pics coming, please....

  14. Exhaust all done! just need to shorten the tail pipes a bit. Gas tank in and started runnin fuel lines. Did not get much done today. Had doctor visit this morning, then dropped off foot pedal for my tig for repair. Picked up a couple loads of mulch (that sucked). Be back at it tomorrow:cool: My bags of hardware are shinking fast. This was a good idea! Even though I replaced most of it with new hardware, it helped me remember (being an old fart) where things belong. Any of you guys do this?? Also order Sacramento Vintage Ford's vintage wiring kit!

  21. how come the tig worked better for you than me?:cool: when are we going to put the body back on?

  22. It's all in the wrist:eek: Getting close. Those rags are protecting gauges in case you were wondering. Making up temp gauge sender mounts in upper rad. hoses. One side for original gauge the other for a more accurate Smiths. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Greg, I would vote for NO FENDERS but?

Last time I drove thru Conn in a highboy 32 roadster I was stopped twice by State troopers for NO FENDERS, they did not give me a ticket but told me it was illegal.

  29. Everything is illegal in CT. Unless they can Tax it.
