In this week's video I show how I go about using the vintage Buma boring machine on an 8BA flathead block. Also this week I repair a head stud hole using a heli coil. I hope you find it interesting. Thanks for joining me once again in Mart's Garage.

Mart, @ the 18 minute portion of video from the underside of the engine. What is the ring around the bore that gives the impression the block has been sleeved?

So your doing the finishing sizing to them or were the sleeves all ready there prior as a running engine? This is what confuses me.

The sleeves were already in place. The bore was standard but worn and pitted in places. We went to +.045 and one only just cleaned up at that.

I had a block bored years ago in California by a shop that had a platform for the boring bar to set on so you didn't have to remove any studs...I had an early 33 block that no studs that entered the water jacket... Don't know if they were all like that but the studs came out very easy,,,

I wish you were my neighbor. I just dropped my 8ba block off today to the machine shop that worried me the least haha. Not a great feeling
