I think it is time to sell the merc . I want to build a motorcycle , and can't afford to do / keep both so here it goes . It is pretty solid , has a 1965 ( I think ? ) ford 289 with worked 302 heads ( new valves , seats , lifters , springs etc ) . C/4 automatic with a nice tall ass Gennie shifter . New driveshaft , ford 9" rearend with 300 gears in it . Hauls ass on the freeway . T-bird buckets , no backseat . Floor is tunneled and the frame is C-notched . The only " problem " is that the people who did the rearend fucked it up and welded the springperches on it a little too far back , and the pinion angle is fucked up ( too high) and I can't let the air out of the shocks to lower it . I would get that fixed for whoever wants it if that is a problem and doesnt want to deal with it themselves . It has regular airshocks in the back and cut coils in front . Pretty nice stero system with a 10 " subwoofer and 4 6 by 9 speakers in the cab . 10 disc changer in the trunk and a head in the console ( 62 falcon center console I think ) . New radiator , Firestone ( Coker ) 15 x 5 biasply tires , homeade hubcaps , and a few boxes of parts . I am thinking $15,000 out the door . Possible trade for running Harley and cash , older bike or chopper / bobber . . . whatever , anyhow , if you want to know more about it email me or hit me on here . Local would be nice ( best ) but we can work something out . maquee@cox.net
[ QUOTE ] Nooooooo! [/ QUOTE ] My thoughts even before i scrolled down. The moredoor army is thinning.... You're a lot safer wrapped in 4000lbs of green metal than your own skin. Let us know who ends up pickin it up. -Dane
Yeah no shit , I have been in alot of motorcycle wrecks some pretty bad and some not so bad , but I cant seem to get it out of my blood . Anyhow , I can always build something else / better / different / whatever , later on down the line P.S. my wife wanted me to let everyone know that she had nothing to do with it , which is of course totaly true
I have always said that car was the koolest moredoor, sort of the poster child for moredoor koolness. I covet that car bad. My wallet however cannot sustain my lust. Hopefully another HAMBer will give it a good home.
Yeah El Cab , I am hoping someone on here will want it , I was thinking about Ebay and ALOT higher price and work my way down in price if I have to . I think that is a pretty fair price , and if I can get that I won't feel bad seeing it go . I have just sort of hit a block and now that i have this bike on the back burner I t hink it will sit pretty in someone elses garage . It should be super easy to " finish " this car . all it needs is some interior work , maybe a feww weekends of body work and some paint . The bumpers are freshly chromed and so are the bumper guards . The grill needs to be finished and the issue with the shocks in back , otherwise it is a daily driver .
Mike, hey I know where there's a perfectly good 49 Shoebox for trade plus tattoos! Shit man, can't believe your getting rid of it. Lucky SOB whoever ends up with it! Keep us updated. Later man...
Can't think of too many bikes I'd rather have than that merc. Man, I hope you don't regret letting her go.
I always regret letting them go , but there is always another one around the corner . . . yeah I just keep telling myself that
Butt , it is just sitting there getting even more dusty The motor needs to be rebuilt , and so does the trans . Both stuff I can't do myself . ALSO I can't afford to have them done . AND for what it's worth things are tight around the house these days , Amy works in the skateboard industry and it is really slow these days ( sales commissions are small lately ) and well I could use some cash ( and being able to build the bike would keep me on at leasta cool set of wheels ) . . . I don't know it is all rationalizing , I dont WANT to sell it , but I think it would be the right thing to do right now .
Hey Mike, Whats your wife do in the skate industry? I was hangin' with Bam Margera last night. Crazy dude..My son is a little skater too (Hes 11) Just wondering.. Spike
HRP she does sales and the whole industry is jst sort of slow right now . we arent going broke , but in order for me to have all my fun things and still pay the mortgage & all of the trips to vegas the extra cash would come in handy . Actually Bam has some kind of personal trip with Amy's boss regarding the rights to the CKY video I think . He keeps trying to sue him or something . Pretty funny stuff . Small world
Very cool. Out here skating is bigger than ever with parks opening up everywhere. I'm getting in on it by photographing skaters and selling the images. I'm at the park all the time with my son anyway.. As far as Bam goes, I can see him doing that. He's just a spoiled kid after all.. VIVA LA Bam is filmed all over my town here. I'm surprised I haven't been captured on tape in my Hot Rod because thats what I usually take him to skate in. Indeed it is a small world.. Spike
Mike I dont know about down there but 15,000 for a HD up here will get ya one in about the same shape as yer Merc. Keep the Merc.---Feder
yup that is one great looking Merc, who says moredoors can't be cool. Saw shots of it on one of the H.A.M.B party posts recently and thought it looked great. hey i am in the wrong country and have to amny cars anyhow. I am sur eit we ill sell easily!
No, buddy, say it aint so. That thing is the single coolest car on the hamb in my humble book. And not for another kustomproject either?!
Awww sheeit. Any time anyone gives me grief about owning a moredoor I point 'em at your Merc. That thing is a HAMB icon. You better end up with one cool-ass Harley.
No I must be tripping. That is the coolest moredoor merc ever. I love it, and I liked having you back us moredoors up when someone would bag on them. Someone is going to be a lucky fool. I have seen you lately on FUCK! so I figured you were getting ready to build the Harley, but I never thought you would sell the Merc. Good luck on the Panhead project..Keep us posted where it goes, and the progress on the bike..
The masses have spoken, a moredoor in the hand is worth two hogs in the bush. Honestly, if things are tight, you are better off holding on until you are in a better financial situation. I don't know why I really care except that I watched the car being worked on here, like when you did the taillights. It is yours after all, but I'd sure hate to see it go.
