People were way more into their clothes then. One thing I like seeing in old photos is how folks are dressed. Especially in the old car show pictures. We are such slobs now. "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."Mark Twain

  7. I can't wait to see how you handle your throttle linkage conundrum. I have a totally non traditional 70s cable that's unreliable, ugly and tends to bind. I also have the same Ford pedal and linkage as you but like yours, it comes out on the wrong side of my carburetor.

awesome! I’ll compare those numbers and post them tomorrow :)

Yeah I ran tw or here different cable set ups on the 46’ until I cut up the stock stuff and made it work. We just moved the arm to the correct side. So it looks more like a T than a Z but maintains all the stock angles and ratios.

how ever this inliner has the carb way further led than a v8. I’ve got a couple ideas, I’ll post as I figure it out for sure.

Snuck a little time in tonight C43BA80C-E71A-4B42-BC56-C33396EBDD2D.jpeg always like looking at this while it’s got the hood and cowl off. Feels Like a real life cut away drawing 6A22B7CD-F065-4DD6-B444-A848DE999916.jpeg BDA86AD1-128B-4F37-AA5D-CF7F125353DB.jpeg a little hard to see but I stuck a sheet of card board on where the kick panel would be with a magnet. Seems like I should have room for my foot on the clutch with out any issues.

also measured on the cowl top and I need to trim the edge where we removed the tank for the upper left hand corner of the pedal box. Glad I like the pedals where I mocked them up because I’m not sure if you could really move them over any further.

going to go buy metal for bracing the firewall and filling the dash in the morning. I don’t think I’m going to really going to have time to get started on the bracing after doing the dash but I figure if I’ve got the metal laying there then it’s that much easier to go ahead and start in on it when I get a little garage time.

    Keep ya posted

BE7A2C66-DBEF-4828-BB60-7C37494B899F.jpeg Uh yeah @Tuck got a pull max and some louver dies made and now I’ve been day dreaming the length, size, spacing, rows of louvers for hood sides

But wait! 39794C96-52D8-4E12-88F0-4373A6375B49.jpeg poof! That’s the sound of my mind being blown.

probably gonna need some of that! So cool!

Tell me more please. I have some sections of 90lb railroad rail that I'm sure could be put to use in building a louver press big enough for anything you could drag to it. That backing plate looks cool!

That’s about all I know. He’s been posting all sorts of long and short louvers on Instagram playing with spacing and ect. I’m sure he’ll chime in eventually

Alright so made the template for the dash filler tonight

Cut out the side of a frozen pot pie box and took my first swing. I traced the piece I cut out of the dash but it didn’t match up very well

try 2 I shoved the new square of cardboard inside the tank and traced the edge. Worked way better.

cut it out and test fit it. It’s a little on the big side. I think I’ll cut the 18g to that perimeter and then sneak up on the figment.

He's quite the Hamb Talent...his roadster is beyond Wild and lots of inspiration to be gleaned...

Happy New Year Tim...there's a louvered cover I've seen a couple of times that you'll find interesting I saw. I'll post it when I find it again because it did happen...:D

Trimmed it to fit with a tight butt weld and test fit a few times.

Normally id paint the metal white and mark with a pencil so the line is easy to see but was in a rush so I used tape. Lined it up to use up the lease amount of metal and used one of my strong magnets to hold the template down/still

7ACA45EC-CF61-4F80-A5D0-C92093D66C39.jpeg The magnet is inside the glove, then when it attracts metal shavings and dust I can just fold the glove off F136A57C-7B6A-41FB-9F35-232F0E55D630.jpeg

Now can I get it cut out before we have another baby?

    stay tuned lol

Well no baby yet but I’ve got this cut out and to my buddies shop to have him slowly weld it up for me. 8592BE7F-E100-4C51-A3EB-0657B2CA1197.jpeg all the clamps were going to be in the way of the saw so I used a chunk of track on top of a clean piece of lumber to hold it down. 4890E995-5FA9-4244-A3AD-BA9EF04834AB.jpeg not as dead on as I’d have liked but should work just fine.

while he’s messing with this I’m going to start on the cowl/ firewall bracing.

might sit the hood on the car minus the cowl just to make 100% sure that the masters should clear. That outside corner with all the tapering hood lines always makes me concerned

It will look different but that’s basically been the plan. A louvered cover that takes a quarter turn fastener to attach

I really don’t like when things move from mock up.

I scribed a line on the edge of where the box is sitting on the firewall flange. I measured it from a point that will not move and I made a small witness strip as well. Those last two posts are for @RICH B who had been asking about that sort of thing, just took me a minute to get around to it

  27. I don't have any pics but of mine, but I was setting it up to run a car/truck gas pedal and a backwards arm. I have two different length arms (I think a V8 and a 4cyl), so different length sleeves and extra bell type mounts (like yours). I was going to run the arm over the top of the steering column (instead of the stock towards the passenger side) and make a rod that goes through the firewall to the carb (using the stock ball ends). Or you can run it outside the firewall if your firewall has a dip in it. I pulled off the spoon pedal and was going to just put it on backwards (reverse it). Does that make sense?.

I have one like this and a longer shaft one:

Basically making it look like this and just flip the pedal around:

    Here's another way:

Hey that’s an idea! I’ll mess with mocking that up when I get a minute. And I’ll check the link you shared after dinner :)

I wonder if the return spring on the pedal is sufficient if your linkage is all solid rod and no cable, or if you should still have them on the carb.

the 46 ended up with no spring on the pedal and two springs on the carb.

    @Rocky any thoughts on that?

I'm running the spring on the pedal and its plenty. But I'm also running the springs that go around the throttle shaft of the stromberg carbs. So I technically have 3 springs.

  30. I was going to run a spring on the carb also. My ‘47 has a carb spring also.
