I've known Tim for a good many years and yeah, he'll beat an idea to death before acting on it. Then he'll tweak on the thing 'till it's finished but he makes neat shit. I'm just the opposite and sometimes he makes me crazy but it's all fun!
He tweaks on a license plate light and I spent about 7 minutes on mine...just drilled a hole in the license plate and shoved a dash light in it, swiveled it around to point upward toward the plate....done! Next project...
I had a T shirt from Goofy's Back yard Barbecue that said "Where over done is done well." That can apply to making hot rod parts too, at least Tim's parts.
I’ve got to buy a house with more parking spots when this ones driving so I’m not in any hurry. Just giving me something to do with my hands and keep my mind off... well basically everything else lol. that being said @Austin kays and I have decided to have both cars ready to charge the hill at the hotrod hill climb in 2023. Gives me slightly more than two more years to have it driving and sorted sans paint or interior. Seems right on the cusp of realistic for either one of us so I’m gonna mark the calendar
Yes it’s good to have a target in our sights. And the Hill climb will be a hell of a debut for the two ole A bones! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Old light vs new light. that’s why I went threw the bother to drop it, they are always way closer to the plate in the old photos
That'll help when the front wheels are off the ground...more aesthetically pleasing without a doubt...I think you nailed it overthinking be damned...are those Lights for Travel Trailers? I'd like to see one with the plate mounted with that huge space...I'll bet it looks off...
Lmao I’d drag my ass like a dog before to get where I needed to go before I’d even get in the passenger seat of a bug let along own one Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Snippets of progress needed to make the hole in the lid big enough for the stud to pass threw. Noticed a brass grommet before I tried to drill it and when I peeled it out it was not only the perfect size but this baffle dropped off. One less layer to rip out! I also got half of the air cleaner tacked together and the other half marked to weld. Mocking up air cleaner height here with some tape rolls. Buying the actual filter this week before anything gets cemented in a related note anyone have any idea what this hole is for? @Inked Monkey has the same hole on his chevy 250 in-line 6 but it’s not tapped? Seeing as mine has hardware it must have held something when I got it? Guess I’ll scroll back a million pages and see if I have a photo here’s a shot of it a little clearer. The two lower holes of the triangle mount the coil. think I may bolt the air cleaner support to one of those three and ditch the pre existing beefy bracket up front that I had previously bolted a support to also I made this super fancy painting jig and painted the license plate brackets. I found some low profile hardware that should work just fine. No pix of those handy but it’s nothing exciting
Filter assembly should be tacked for final check before final weld in a few days. Grabbed the slant 6 air filter from Napa as well. Going to put the filter in place when I mock up the mounting brackets so it’s as complete as feasible. Looks like it should fit perfect I don’t mind the look of the element either so I don’t think I’ll do any mesh or anything around it for now. was wondering about the size listed with a top OD bigger than the bottom. This photo hopefully shows that the filter isnt cone shaped but has two different width rubber flanges/lips top and bottom
Cut the end of the bolts off of the spreader bar and cut the weld on the one half. Actually ended up cutting right down the center of the washer on both sides! The metal under the weld seemed fine so I think it’s likely that the ends that loop out and cover the back fenders were cracked off and welded back on and some point and that weld was a reminet of that Here you can see the open seem side to side I mentioned previously over all everything else looks good. Nothing a flap disc can’t take care of in short order
Rear bumper brackets rough rounded and tossed into the citric acid. Hopefully before and after pictures tomorrow. Should have the new spreader bar ready to bolt in by next week. Debating weather it gets painted yet as it’ll get dinged around a fair amount before it’s on to stay. Mayve just primer to keep everything rust free. Anyhow there’s that
Nothing new just working on the 46. Did see this shared online, it lives in a 49 chevy. Thought it relevant to previous conversations
...What the hecks going on with that rad hose water neck on the manifold?...it looks choked with something...and yeah you won't see it once the hose is on but why restrict the flow...especially with all the other jazz going on...
