An old cowboy friend used the horse hair hitching (braiding) skills he learned in prison rehab to make a pair of multicolored suspenders out several colors of that nylon bale twine. Hat bands, belts, and head stalls too. Handy stuff. He was lucky 30 years earlier they would have hanged him.
That’d be the last thing left on the farm truck lol. A pile of stainless wire and some Yosemite Sam mud flaps
Thanks @Rand Man im working on something right now that should make the rest of the build a lot better/ easier
Phew that made more chips than expected! drilled and tapped all the floor corner gussets for 3/8-16. They are 1/4 steel so when they get welded flush with the bottom of the 1”tall tubing in the subframe I can bolt a 3/4” marine plywood floor board down from the top and not need to figure out how to hold a nut on the opposite side. should get welded in a week from tomorrow if all goes well
Got the second hood shelf “done” with wood blocks and latches but can’t bolt it to the car until I move the car away from the wall. also need to trim a support piece on the drivers side, it lands right over a steering box bracket bolt. About two seconds with a cut off wheel when I get a chance and itll be good to go. Just a bit of tiny progress to let ya know I’m still moving forward. A lot of test fitting hardware and pulling things back apart at the moment. oh I did want to let everyone know the wood blocks I got from Mac’s have 2/3 holes in the right spot but they are drilled so small that I should be able to drill threw the latch, hood shelf and into the block with no real trouble. I think the holes are so small to let the bolts kinda self tap and hold everything together while you position everything but with the 3 rd hole bolting the block to the shelf before you even sit it on the car I think a bigger hole or an oval from correcting the one hole should be fine. ramble over. That’s where it’s at
Ahh that’s better! then it wasn’t long and it started feeling like an episode of pickers You find out just how low things are when you pull them up onto a trailer! Some crafty moves and we had it sorted. Thank God for friends who know what they’re doing lol
Now to get the non garage stuff out of the garage and figure out how to make enough room to paint and finish the walls before I start putting the shop together
I'm sure despite the chaos there was an fair bit of uplifting Ions going on there looking at your nicely stanced and coming together Hotrod...Did you move house or just move shop?
@Stogy moved the whole shebang! Insanely stressful but has already proven to be an absolute blessing and worth the effort. and yeah I had to giggle at seeing that even with the ass end on the downhill tail of the trailer and 400+ pounds of steal in the back seat it’s still got a super obvious rake. need to source some tire racks so I can get these extra rollers up off the floor and make best of this new foot print super excited to get the shop squared away
Well yeah...What @brEad said...ooooh I hate moving...at this age I'm still getting over the last move...I don't travel lightly... It's truly nice to have some good news to balance it all out...
Thinking that extra 46’ front clip might end up hanging high up on the wall or maybe on the ceiling? Hmmm
If I ever move again it will consist of putting a clean pair of underwear in my pocket and driving away. No way I'm moving this junk again.
My goal is to be able to do something without moving something and to be able to set something down and have it not be on the top of a pile. One man's trash is another man's junk.
Exactly! Trying to make everything accessible and easy to get to. Everything has a home! I think we are going to put my extra 46’ front clip on the ceiling…. Need to flame it first though
Like a rusty game of Tetris, looks like the white stuff is on the other side of town gotta make room for mamas daily quicker than expected
Rusty becomes snowy but tetris could help you keep your promises. "Yes Dear, there is a garage and of course there would room to park your car inside. It may not be on the floor."
Getting closer. Priced lumber for the work bench yesterday and this morning moved one of the last non garage pieces of furniture out. I can see the floor! Got another big… let’s call it a book shelf on steroids.. that might not stay but for now it’s loaded with boxes so I keep shuffling it around
Chipping away at it. I really need to make a bench so I can put things away but I need somewhere to make said bench lol. might be nice out this weekend, I’ll see how much room I can create. Worse case maybe I can put a car outside for an afternoon and use that spot to cut and drill picture because posts always need pictures right?
It all sounds good but when the new bench gets buried and there is still no room to move the car back in think of me with an understanding smile.
