Maybe I’ll paint a 6 ball on the bench to remind me it’s not a shelf ;)

Shelves above the roll up doors are great for totes of hot rod parts and random junk. I always find shelf space to be at a premium..
    Very nice garage though!

That’s a good spot for a shelf! Thanks for the idea. I’m definitely putting effort towards things going up and getting off the floor

Also a good time to go through it all again and make sure it is really worth putting in a tote on a shelf. Once you get behind and have boxes of mixed stuff piled on top of each other it is a BITCH to sort it. When you are looking at taking more time to sort your treasures than to build your project you are in deep doo.

Not much going on. Feels like I haven’t worked on the car in a decade. Took the 46 around the neighborhood to mix up a little antifreeze concentrate I snuck in now that it’s getting cold and the new garage isn’t heated. A2F8F02B-2C6A-4295-B101-0ADF59ACC89B.jpeg hopefully get some miles in tomorrow and get on the work bench soon. Got the space more or less cleared this week.

I took over a year off shop work in the moving process. It is like learning to weld, cut, and shape all over again. I keep losing motivation as my skills have slipped so bad without using them. That is why I figured I should not only tackle one of the hardest cars to chop and get right, but start with an absolute piece of twisted crap. It has been a frustrating return I have inflicted upon myself.

  8. As a storage idea... I see you've got fairly high ceiling(s)... Mine are about 12' so I've got high shelves along each side that hold a lot of stuff and are braced to the wall and ceiling. Not real convenient for everyday access, but we've all got (too much) crap we can get off the floor and out of the way. Of course, in the normal fashion of things, it just clears up floor space to put newly collected crap in, so I don't know how much of a 'win' it is. Build a space, grow into it, overflow it.... it never ends.

Yeah I’m trying my best to get stuff up and off the floor. Looks like tire racks went from $44 and everywhere to $150 and out of stock :S need to figure that one out.

also need to find some good idea for storing metal and wood pieces. Probably time for some digging on garagejournal.com

Yeah I think it is. Found a thread with quite a few variations but I think I like this the best. Seems similar to what You find at ace hardware and tractor supply stores holding metal

Another idea, poorly cropped screen shot. Best I could get with out registering for Pinterest or something. 69FF5F92-D8DA-4591-970B-008EA3B155E0.jpeg

Very cool. I think that you should show us a pic of both of the drawings though.

I was referencing the drawing of how I wanted to lay out the garage, I’ll snap a shot of it later today if you like.

it’s changed and will continue to change but the idea is still the same :)

In 1966 I worked in the molding plant at a saw mill. We cut at lot of yellow fir called "piss fir" because of how it smelled. Not the nice piney smell you think of. Tough to take with a hang over.

Needs a few more screws holding the top on but a coat of paint and the bench is ready to shove up to the wall and get put into use! F05387F5-D8C4-41B7-BAAD-9B6D00AA413E.jpeg 18EA4392-B2AB-43D3-B37B-1225894077E4.jpeg the top overhangs a little so I can put a power strip in the front and have it tucked under out of the way, and the back will get a few notches for cords for the drill press etc.

    very sturdy so far!
Excited at the prospect of seeing the floor again!
