@flatout51 your alive! I had the factory install those triangle air conditioners in each door works ok I guess lol
Timm...you are one of the few Tattoo Artists that lay the Art to other skins so to speak...wow Joey's Roadster is stunning...please do share your work in the Art Show...any which way you want... I always wanted Rytang to draw a vision of his Custom he was fabbing...he was like you a Tattoo Artist... Again love your work...
Yeah Rytang does some cool stuff! And thank you for the compliments! I’ve got 3-4 more in progress right now they I’ll share when they are done. i don’t post on the art threads anymore because with out fail the comments are long diatribes about how offensive my photo taking skills are to there, gods, and the art work it selves eyes. I’m over it lol
The Art Show is still a work in itself...agreed, but I wish you would reconsider...there is only one who is actually vocal about presentation...and that is not a requirement...he does take Art and crop, adjust contrast and border it on occasion. Most are thankful but the push to conform is sometimes a little demanding... I actually have done similar if I feel the presenter is not computer savvy enough with a little explanation if they post upside down or sideways,...I certainly don't preach or demand that's how it should be...I'm just glad to see the style of others...I am especially interested in the Older Memberships doodles from the Hamb era...There are some seriously talented Hambers many with the masterpieces tucked away...Catdad is one of those...The Photographer Tom Davison is another...anyways I sure enjoy the extended creativity of Hotrodders and Customizers...
I am going to let you guys in on a secret, I have not looked at the Friday art show in at least a decade! No reason. Same as the drag car thread.
I quit my day job to build hot rods back in January. I loaded up on projects and figured building them to sell would be my only business the first year. That lasted 2 weeks before the first ground up build was in the shop. Then the 32 3 window hoard showed up. I am already behind before I even got my feet under me. I just had someone ask about doing a Bronco after I get caught up. It would be 4th in line at this point plus my own stuff. A one man shop takes a while to get things done. It's been crazy.
@justabeater37, glad to hear how successful opening your shop was! Hope you find opportunity to work on your own stuff, too!
How about tearing down a dirt road on a model T door? going to get the engine for the 46 tonight, after a phenomenal weekend at the roc and snooping @Primered Forever sedan when he wasn’t looking I’m really ready to get back on this. Been a full year of life having other plans. But seeing @J.Ukrop new chassis being sooooo close I’m feeling optimistic. I want the 46 100% buttoned up and ready to shine at the 2023 gathering at the roc, and maybe I’ll have the A ready for 24? It works in my head but we all know how that seems to go. anyhow. Stay tuned
Tim, PM your address to me & I'll send the Leo Santucci book. There is a chapter about making a six head from 2 V8 heads. That won't apply to putting a V8 head on your 4 but all the other stuff about angled rockers, filling & drilling head bolt holes, gaskets, making side covers, push rods outside the block, distributer clearance, special cam?........ will. Plus the fact that it is plain ugly at least with Weber side drafts. If you come across an Ansen or Duggan/Deppe that is a different deal. For all the work I'm not even sure a Chevy head would be the best choice. I also found this discussion on the Inliner site. I'm not exactly sure what this head is but it mentions the Santucci and talks about the same issues + pictures. https://www.inliners.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=97388&page=1 I like your gauge cluster. I've spent a lot of time behind some of those. I'm not sure about those but by the round ones in mid '48 the GMC oil pressure gauge went to 60 psi. They had 228s in '39 so it might be worth a look.
I was at the PO today and they didn't have any envelopes out. I have to go back to town tomorrow so I'll try to get it sent. Sorry I had lost track of the offer.
Thanks man! on the note of great ideas I was telling Joey about this rad dabbed fuel log on a hotrod we saw at the roc. I was tanking of making one of of solid stock but this has got me thinking there’s lot of options I hadn’t considered yet.
Probably not more involved than a Chevy. A few years ago I was thinking about putting a Studebaker v8 head on a Model A block. Not a bad fit.
At this point I'm thinking "A running one in the rod are worth two in the parts pile." I have a couple in the pile and one on a engine stand. I remember going to a circus when I was a kid and all of the pegs securing the ropes for the tents were axles, mostly Ford.
I have no plans for them in anything. I've got some assembled short blocks and rebuilt heads ready to go. They came with a ford estate I purchased And I've just never done anything with them. Too....reliable and fast for my taste! I had a Anson head as well, but sold it. It went into the 1967 IMCA season winner restoration. I am using the axles though. and I will admit watching this thread makes me want to use of the Chevy.
