Okay, so this goes out to all those in the South West. Why does every newer car almost come standard with limo tint in this area? Because it's DAMN HOT!!! So why don't more rodders try the same fix? Lets face it, one of the major draw backs of hot rods is the general lack of A/C. Don't get me wrong, it's worth it to drive a REAL car. But tint just makes sense to me, is it because it's not authentic to the period? I can understand that, but I see so many cars that break the "period correct" theme on other modern day creature cumforts, why not tint? Am I missing something?
Didn't mean to bring it up again, I figured it was for traditional reasons. And yes, your interior is VERY cool. I suppose also I would want to let everyone see who is driving that old thing, why it's just a kid! Older people are almost expected to drive something vintage, I think it makes a good point when you see a youngster cruising in a classic. At least I always like to see that others in my generation have a bit of good taste as well.
If it's hot and you don't have a/c it doesn't matter if the windows are tinted or not...they're going to be DOWN.
Amen! I live in hot steamy south florida and have never considered tinting my windows. But I am considering an under the dash a/c
Not traditional and on some cars just looks horribly wrong with dark windows. I just had the windows on my Green truck done just before the LSRU by a guy here in Phoenix, he used a tint that is a few shades darker but the same color as the EZ-EYE green that was found in cars from the 50s and 60s. Plus it has UV protection which is kinda nice for those of us who get sunburned. Sun King David Torres 623-695-1377
That sounds like a perfect blend, Do you have any pictures? I'v never seen any cars with that green tint outside of model cars, but it looks sweet on them, so perhaps that's the answer. Thanks ELpolacko.
I saw a "civillian" car today on the commute home. it had a film on the side windows but it was almost clear.. it had a texture to it like lines running across. I bet it was some sort of UV ray block or something. I worked with a girl whos pop painted the back window of his datsun truck to keep his bald head from getting sunburned. blue - green or yellow tint on a 60's race car would be cool. some guys I knew thought I should tint the windows in my 62 Cad Sedan DeVille. no thanks. kinda pimps it up a bit I think.
Just took these a few minutes ago. Damn my wheels got dirty quick! These pictures are with the sun behind me. I should have taken some from the other side because depending on the angle more or less light is blocked. So in this case it looks to be a bit darker than it is. The last picture shows the side window and the stock EZ-EYE windshield side by side on a white background. You can really get a sense of the shade here.
Tint! When its over 100 degrees traditional don't mean squat. My rear window is tinted limo dark to keep my little girl from grilling when she's riding in the back seat. Side windows don't make nearly as much difference and on the '51 Chevy coupe I'm building I'm just going with ez-eye tint. Totally clear does look nice, but if a car is a real driver and you live where it's hot hot hot you have to make some concessions.
