I have 5.50x16 front and 7.50x16 rear bias-ply tires. I am looking to change over to 15" radials. What are the 'modern' equivalents to the tires I have? r
I put 165r/16 and 215/85/16 on my sedan, closest I could find that would still fit on a 4" wheel without going to Coker. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Raven, The diamond back site has size equivelent charts on thier site. I don't know if they go from 16-15 but I do believe that you can get OD from the charts as well and make your own conclusions based on the OD plus the section width.
"I put 165r/16 and 215/85/16 on my sedan, closest I could find that would still fit on a 4" wheel without going to Coker." What tires did you use? I'm looking for something I don't have to special order, something I can get at nearly every tire store and doesn't cost $300 buck a pop. That's why I'm staying away from the likes of Coker. r
Yes, you can find 'common conversion' charts but you'll end up with much smaller-looking tires. Diameter usually isn't hard to match, but modern tires are much wider....
Raven, the fronts I got from universal tire, they are Austone taxi cab tire, the rears are BFG commercial t/a I got from tire rack, you can pick them up if you have a distribution center near you, they are 10 ply but seem to ride ok. Both have decent looking side walls,I figured I saved around 650.00 over getting the Coker tires. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Not knowing what car these are going on, I'd recommend looking at 145R/15's (or even 135's) for the front. The 165's look a little "meaty" on the front of a traditional car. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
