[QUOTE, ok it gets better, Guys from the shop just called asking me where I put the ***le cause the dude is there with the cash in hand. almost tempted to tell him it isnt forsale.[/QUOTE] I had a similiar situation on a Jr. dragster I was trying to sell a few years back when we went to a fast car for my son. We wanted $2,500.00 for a turnkey 13 second car, that included a helmet, belts, neckbrace, jacket, gloves, starter etc. that was a smoking deal, even back then. A guy at the track was interested, we talked quite a bit and he started trying to beat me down on the price. I explained that the price was firm. He said he could buy a better car for less money. Told him to go do it, have a nice day and left the track. Two weeks later, he calls wanting to know if I still had the car, I told him yeah, we hadn't advertised it nor been anywhere and yes it was in the garage. He says he wants to buy it for the 2,500.00. I told him, no, it's not for sale to him, at any price. He asks, why? I explained that he insulted me at the track two weeks ago with his lame offer and with the statement that he could go and buy a better car for less money. I explained that he might buy the car from someone else someday but that it would be a very cold day in hell before I would sell it directly to him. Sold the car 3 days later for the 2,500.00. This clown wound up with the car 2 owners later. Heard he had to give 2,850.00 for the car.
You handled that very well....a lot better than I did when I was selling a shubox vicky and a guy [local hotrod builder/seller hero dude] called me to come look at the car. I told him on the phone it was missing most of the interior...rest of the car was pretty nice. It didn't help that I HAD to sell the car to satisfy a tax problem my wife made for us.....I really didn't want to sell it. The hero comes over and I take him to the garage to look the car over. He immediately begins to pick the car apart. After about 15 minutes of this ****, I snapped....opened the big door and told the guy to "Git the **** off my property".... Later I felt bad because I had lost control...let the guy get to me...but I knew he wasn't gonna buy the car anyway, for any price. you did better than I did.
These stories reming me of my friend selling his 55 Crown Vic. He had it setting by the road with his phone number on the window. Its on his property but his place is way to the back of the property. This guy calls him and asks some questions. I was looking at your 55 etc etc well he tells my friend I had the back seat out and its a solid car huh? He goes you had my back seat out!!!! The guy hung up on him. He went to where his car was parked and the damn seat was thrown back in. What kind of person just pulls the seat out without talking to the owner first? The was a running driving car not some **** box. After that he had to lock it up.
