1949 Fleetline 2door, lowered to all hell. I have 6.70-15's on the front old AJAX brand and they are all cracked on the black sections of the tires. when the car sits for a day they get flat spots in them and they have to go. The car has a 215/65/15 radial tires on the rear...its what was on there when I got it. I want to put a wide white in the rear but have some concerns. Try to put 6.70-15's all around and do 3"+ wides all around? The front will stay a 6.70-15 in a wide white. I read that a 215/65/15 is close to a 5.60-15 for diameter but the weight limits of the tires are sketchy in that size but seems like they would work...what would you guys do? I want to do 3" wide or better all around, going to stay bias-ply. The way it looks to be going it would be 3" in the front and like 2&3/4 wide white in rear do you think it would be ok or would it be that noticeable? The rear is as lot as you can possibly go right now, if I let the air of the rear shocks the tires will sometimes rub the inner wheel wells if I open it up from a light or whatnot. Other times like hitting pot holes or dips in the road the rear axle will knock the frame rails, lol...I will run air in the shocks but dont like the raked look I see when I do have air in them. Notching is not in the budget right now. (pic has a little air in the rear at the moment but the rim always shows even all the way down)
Have you looked at the "Coker" vintage tire site?? Heck, you might want to install a pair of "pie-crust" real DOT approved white-walled cheater slicks on the back??? pdq67
Im going to order through Coker, probably just gonna do some classics. I have done the research as much as I think I can, just want to get opinions on what route I should go, either try my luck that the 5.60-15's on the rear will hold up to the weight, handle ok, and not be too small for the rear, etc or go with 6.70-15's all around and try my luck that I can stuff them under the rear without issues? Other sizes that might work that I am missing or suggestions? Why cheater slicks? are they skinnier or?? I drive this car alot as well as highway and higher speeds.
Just for their look's. Imho, an old car that's been worked over just look's right with cheater slicks on it is all. pdq67
