I do think this roadster showed well at an early Oakland Roadster Show, can’t remember which year (before my time!). If I remember, it showed with a clear plexiglass hood.

...This has been shared within this thread before...there's a story on the history of this Hotrod...the stance was nailed early on it seems and the fella that built it had done the Hotrod walk indeed...Nailed it...

My Grandad bought one of those new. My dad and I repainted it when I was 8 or 9. I was sanding some filler he had put in a lot of little dents in the back passenger side of the cab. The story as I remember had something to do with getting caught stealing water melons an one of my uncles saying, " Oh, that old poot won't shoot!". The picture was taken during WWII when my aunts and the uncle too young for the service, posing on the tractor tire, were doing the farming. That uncle was the one that got my brother and me into hot rodding but in this case he cut the pickup in half and made a trailer of it and scraped the rest in the late '50s.. 100_2284.jpg

...this strikes a Cord of a different flavor...the vintage garage and cobblestone all add to the ambience of this shot...

Thanks Stogy. Those are my aunts Ruby and Mary. When Ruby wasn't farming during the war she was living with my dad and mom building airplanes for Douglas. A couple more of Aunt Mary and the pickup.

...just recently acquired by Hamber @wildwest...the body is a survivor but it rests on a new frame and perhaps everything else...however this was but another of the wild things cruising the streets back in the good Ole days...keep your eyes peeled as I would be very interested in seeing it back in it's heyday...

The Body has been sold...I highly doubt it will remain a Jalopy, instead I suspect the Ugly as its many times referred will be cut off to return the forward section to it's Ford roots...but Maybe not...we shall see...;)

...These Headlights on this vintage Highboy look to be mounted to the side of the rad shell...if it's anything like the 29 shell on my Ole Hotrod they must have vibrated 24/7...fantastic capture of a premium moment in time...racing Helmet intact...

...this shot is surreal...sometimes being one who manipulates images and pulls most of my content randomly in searchs I sometimes question is what I'm looking at the real deal...even if it's not this is one that I'd love to have the keys to as is where is...of course one big reason I love it so much is it's raw and nasty...

I read the first post. I wonder if we see alot of similar stuff because we have learned and we know what is now ugly and done want to go down that same path. with risk comes rewards but also failure.. I guess you have to be true to yourself and if you like it, then that is what counts.

A lot of years of shaming takes it's toll...Creativity and an open mind leads to discovery that can influence a generation and I'm glad they had cameras to capture much of the big picture...can you imagine what's been done without so much as a camera present...

I seriously believe both camps influenced one another throughout the era we celebrate...even if they won't acknowledge it....much of it was too forward for it's time...
