X2 on the Chrome Deuce Grill shells...it actually connects the shiny shells to the Model T years thru 35 or even 36 they had chrome available around the grill area...

Tube axle under that one to boot...nice Hotrod overall with attention to detail without overdoing it...

What is with the angle of the right rear wheel? There is a lot more engineering here than seen in a glance. To get the engine and radiator low enough for the upper flathead hoses to to closely align with the cowl after the radical channel job took some thought.

Perhaps that's uneven ground and buggy spring lean...my Coupe has a lean many times depending on landscape...

Dick was a military man...infantry may have been where he nurtured his mechanical sense but I suspect his ability to Hotrod in a clean, detailed and polished fashion was gleaned over his life around Hotrod...and people he met and hung out with many of them right here on the Hamb...

  5. Hey Stogy,
Can’t help you out on the dates of the early pictures. I first met Dick in the early 80’s when My Dad purchased his 32 Roadster. We remained friends since then.
Dick was a innovator and a Jag suspension expert at the time. Upon the latest restoration of his roadster the independent suspension was removed for a dropped axle and quick change rear & injected early Boss 302. Dicks old roadster as it is today, still getting the wheels driven off it. ABDD5327-CCBC-407F-8875-287879944BE8.jpeg

Thanks for chiming in DeuceDino...I was reading Dick's Memorial posted later and I quote this from it...

"To show how much he loved hot rods at age twelve he sold his model train set for a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe, which he worked on every day after school and weekends."

So born in 37 if the Coupe shared was the Coupe that would put it around 49 and he looks to be perhaps late teens to early 20s in the pic so yeah maybe 53 to 1957ish...

He was quite the Hotrodder and you certainly have earned your own Hotrod Stripes that's for sure...all the best in the Holiday Season.

I'd have never known till I heard it...:p

I'd think that would eliminate tire wear from burnouts too...but OT aside its got a stance and look...

...I believe this is second time around for this Hotrod here but it certainly captures the essence of the Thread and is worth a second look as well as having a similarities to the last two posted Hotrods...but truly all three have their separate distinctions...

This was a Hambers ride back in the day and since then has taken on a new profile and look...I will share his handle if I can connect the dot that I have misplaced...

It's a very well done ride overall...I wouldn't fit in it that's for sure...I never got crooked license plates but it's an artistic poke at conformity I suppose...

..I follow leads and wasn't expecting this...:D...but yeah, many Hotrods are not height friendly as in built to the driver...that must have a flip or fold down top for entry...

My unchanneled, chopped 29 Sport Coupe is tight enough for my 5'11" frame...My next if there is a next will be a bigger cabin...perhaps later thirties Coupe or Sedan...

I find many Hotrods very compact and that is a choice many enjoy...but ridership may again be very limited...

...I believe this Hotrod is owned by a friend of @Cactus...it also is an old survivor from what I remember...it really has a look that needs only a turn of the key and an open road followed with a big smile...
