After 31 pages the best answer to the question is to......... get off your ass, get in the garage and start wrenching. Make you own history. Make your own rules and stand by them.

Not sure who this comment is directed to or the question you are referring to however I will say...
Yes TFever I have had the Hotrod on the road for a couple of summers now and have done a fair share of mods respecting the era it fits best into...not major stuff...just getting to know what is going on (I will find the time on my own and I will share when I see fit). Lots to do and hey there is life and work and the Hamb with 31 pages here of interesting input here to inspire and aspire too by many like minded Hambers from all over the world.
The site is of course full of other incredible history, threads many in fact totalling well over 31 pages and growing to glean, heed and respect with many very energetic builders, browsers, people who have experienced it and customizers from all walks.
I think its great and I'm not alone. Without any input there is no HAMB...Thanks for yours and everyone else's.
Also you are correct when I decide what to do I stand proudly behind that decision.
I hope you have found something here to inspire your creative self.
I do enjoy the interaction with the membership...As a matter of fact I am honored.

Stogy, thanks for all your contributions to this thread. More than anything it shows that there's not a set "formula" for a traditional rod. A lot of care and an eye for aesthetics and small details can really set apart one rod from another and avoid the "homogenized" idea that the OP was resisting. Your efforts have taken this thread from one that could have been easily ignored to one that is a must see. Keep posting

Stogy, meet Fred. Fred is a long time member. He has / had / has ( again I think ) one of the nicest T
bucket roadsters in Houston TX. I consider Fred a friend of mine even though I have never met him personally..........one very cool guy.
I became aware of Fred when I found that he spent a great deal of time at some old folks home hanging with WWII vets.........how very cool is that ? He seems to be a real no nonsense guy and his posts are straight to the point.
you should follow his posts..............you could do a lot worst.........really !!!!!

and thanks for that photoshopped picture of the coupe...........I need to clean the driveway

Stogy, it was a general statement and not directed at anyone. All I'm saying is, instead of people complaining and wondering what's going on with the hobby, perhaps the best path is to set the example and build. That's it. I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers.

I'm working on a T Bucket and while it can't compare to the majority of the cars on this forum or on the street, it's MY vision. It's my little way of preserving the spirit of Hot Rodding. I don't make a shit load of money and in all honesty, that lack of money holds me back sometimes, but I figure out ways to get things done, the best way I can.

The last thing I'll ever do is toss in the towel and conform. I go out, take a look at my car and get to it. MY vision. What the next guy is doing really doesn't concern me. So, again, there are no homogenized Hot Rods. But there are a lot of people talking the talk and NOT walking the walk.

If anything, the last 30+ pages prove that.

Having read all 31 pages and contributed a few posts, I've come to the conclusion that there are two eras in hot rodding: pre internet and post internet. When print magazines were the only influence beyond club gatherings, there was a bunch of off the wall ideas that were executed using the materials at hand. Excluding the race cars, three quarters of the cars posted in this thread would earn the scorn of the "traditional" hot rodders were they current builds!

Personally, I'm really impressed with the imagination and creativity presented here. Seen one '29 on '32 rails with a flathead and you've seen them all.

This car was built or restored in Switzerland perhaps a tribute car (WS John Gerber Tribute Car).

The love of North American Hotrod, Vintage Speed related awesomeness is well represented in many offshore locations for so many reasons. It is just great to see and appreciate and glean from. No details of wheel mods however very tough to find build info other than it seems to be a fellow by the name of Jan with the Aces CC...

I was only copilot. The car never raced in North America.
--> Here is the complete story
Full restauration of the 12.3 litre Opel race car "Green Monster" keeping the original cylinder block from 1998 to 2001. Due to irreparable leaks a new complete cylinder block was cast under our project management in 2006.
All digitalizations, preparation of parametric data and constructions were instructed by us and partially carried out at Adam Opel AG.
The further processing of the cast blank was also conducted under our direction or directly by us.
Weaknesses in the construction resulting from the historical circumstances were eliminated without changing the characteristics of the engine.

Its nice to see this type of elevated attention given to this valuable history. This happens alot around here...It was a very beautiful era Great Wars aside. Lots of influence came out of that stuff and its quite a treat to see it in action. Will check the build out when I have a chance. Thank you Steffen. Welcome to the HAMB.

Stogy, you're one of the guys still pumping good material into this site - the message board has gotten so diluted with threads that are not informative or inspiring in any way it's amazing. Lots of polling and opinion based , self serving BS- I'd rather check out build threads, tech articles and history of the auto evolution. The pictures you post are excellent; I'm not always ready to run out and build everything I see, but can appreciate the ideas and craftsmanship that goes into ANY hand built car. ( even the ugly ones!) No matter how much I learn, there's always MORE to be had ; a Hot Rod Buffet.

Thankyou for your time and input here; you're saving this from turning like totally facebook, dude.

We need traditional and inspired same input from everyone and for the most part the evolution is doing just fine. Thank you everyone for helping make it interesting and informative. A historical journey in automotive craftsmanship. Quite a cruise...
