This thread is loaded with perfect examples of the diversity in Hot Rodding. I have no idea of the frustration the OP had or maybe his tunnel vision was narrowed, but honestly, if anyone thinks this shit is cookie cutter....maybe....just maybe.... they need to get out more.

Problem: You think it's boring? Solution: Change it, man.

I think the OP was just asking to see "traditional" un-Fordicated hot rods or "traditional" less cookie cutter examples of the art. I don't think he said "boring" just tired of the same formula. If something is right it is right but it doesn't mean that something else is wrong. I happen to think the photo in your avatar is about as good as it gets but that doesn't keep me from further searches.

Then.... his thoughts and request have been confirmed and answered. Formula? Shit.... everybody working on a build already knows that things change.

    A Very Cool Hotrod

@jimmy six's parents with his dads very uniquely styled 29. He was a aviation guy and I did elude on another thread that aviation influences many times come home and are applied as desired. Perhaps Jimmy may chime in and share other photos and thoughts on his dads auto related activity. The link below is from the Inglewood thread he posted this cool ride in. It apparently had a Chrysler grille amoungst the many cool features.

Countn' that #117 seems to have nose styling somewhat reminiscent of the 1905 Whistleing Billy racer. Coincidence? Thoughts?

    The Hotrod

    Jims-_Dads-Hotrod2.jpg

I have had a conversation with @jimmy six about his Dads unique ride and here is some of what he shared with me about his late Dad and his pretty wild Hotrod...

Thanks for your interest. I know some but not all about my dad's car and will tell you what I know. I have other photos prior to it being painted and it was a true hot rod built in the 30's and driven thru and after WWII. In the late 30's my father was an auto mechanic working at Western Auto Glendale California with was a hot bed of the dry lakes racers. He had been in the Merchant Marines before that and I have all of his records and known ships he sailed on. I have a photo my mother took in 1938 at Muroc dry lake with the car. It did not run there. The 29 Ford roadster had a bobbed fenders, Chrysler grille shell, a Crager over head valve conversion, dual Winfield carbs, a Winfield cam, chopped top and a dash full of SW guages. It had dual exhausts which exited the right hood side under a shield under the door(so mom couldn't burn her legs) and up over the axle. I have included a painting I had made from the photo in 1994 at the end of this write up. My parents married in January 1938 and later that year moved to Inglewood, Calif where managed the auto section of the new Western Auto store. During the war he went to work in a machine shop and at wars end was working for North American Aviation in the model shop. His car showed no aviation similarities. I have photos of my mom and dad in Minnesota (my mothers birthplace) in the car after it was painted which he did himself in black lacquer. I assume it was in 1939. He opened his own machine shop in 1949 concentrating on wind tunnel models. He learned to fly in 1947 and up until his passing in 1963, at 50 yrs old, we owned many airplanes, all tail draggers. The roadster was always in our back garage with the engine out. My uncle was using it and put a hole in a piston, I played in it when I was a kid. Dad sold the car when we acquired my great uncle's 33 3 window my mother learned to drive in. Everything was sold off after Dads passing but his 1939 Indian motorcycle which he rode back and forth to work during the war. I kept it and restored it in 1996-2000 and still have it today. In the photo my dad is on the right wearing the pith helmet.

Dedicated to @jimmy six & his late Father

    Thank You

I have seen tilting hoods like this and thought street roddy but I know better now
    and the nose truly unique.

Chrysler had their own Big, bold in your face style no question about it.
Like everything hard to please everyone...Looks like they added
an extra grille bar, altered the bar spacing, widened the fenders and
    numerous other mods...Surely
    not your average Mopar.

I got a question I can't tell what this engine is? Is it a valve in head or ?????

I really like the single headlight. But I like things with one headlight. I would really like information on this car. its got my attention

Beaner @rod1 is correct with it being a Caddy. I presume and it appears to be same block, covers attached with the script visible. The Chrysler's ass does look big to begin with and with widened fenders and bigger meats yeah its big. Comes with the territory on that one...
