...I've always thought this is one of the wildest Hotrods...and it did El Mirage duty as well.

Hi, Stogy, Merry Christmas to you and all the rest of the HAMB world! The car I just recently got was caused by my buddy Mike ( Mikel50 on here) to a certain degree. I had just sold a Model A coupe ( the green one) so I’d have some room and money to take the “ Creeper” apart and do some alterations and a laundry list of stuff that was marked “ later” ( haha). So Mike shoots me a picture of this Bantam for sale down on Cape Cod with a message “ Are you on your way yet? Trailer is hitched up, let’s go get it!” He also included the sellers phone number. (He and I are always sending ads back and forth, instigating trouble). The price was right, so I called his bluff, “ Yes! I’ll be down in a little over an hour.” The history of the car I got is that it was originally built as a “show” car and had a flathead in it ( which I doubt). The big drawback was that it’s a fiberglass body which I didn’t care for, built on what I believe is a “ Total Performance” T bucket frame. Built in the 70’s I’d say ? 94 inch wheelbase!

Now it has a strong 350 motor , 350 tranny, and a ‘56 Chevy rear end. Front disc brakes. BUT, the car is really well put together and clean as a pin. The old SW speedo says it has 5,151.0 miles on it. Full instrumentation that all works, all lights work, it has directionals, an E brake, windshield wiper and had a radio at some point. Still had plates and a 3 year old Mass. Inspection sticker on it! Full interior with carpets, door panels with storage, a hookup for a trickle charger, and a B&M Pro Stick shifter. Tires and wheels are coming off, and now it has a black spray bomb paint job that sucks. Sooooo, as soon as the “A” is done, I’m bringing it home for a remodel. New tires and rims ( 5 window mags, bigs and littles, an I’m thinking a white pearl base paint job with “ panels” ( real 60’s stuff). It runs excellant, and other than it being very tiny, just needs to be freshened up. Cheap toy for the summer! I’m going to be unmercifully shit on because I’ve always been a “ no fiberglass, no SBC motors” guy. Now I have the A with a 327, and this!! I appreciate everyone’s interest in it. Funny thing is, I almost bought a steel body from a real Bantam coupe 3 years ago at a swap meet ! Sorry for the length, but that’s the story . Mike IMG_0420.JPG

Thanks for the story and Merry Ho Ho to you too. I guess after sitting in that for a bit the A-bone will feel like a Cadillac inside. What's that saying...Variety is the Spice of Life. I look forward to the transition. That'll be a peppy little number that's for sure.

  10. I like my buddy, Art's 35 Buick. Yeah, it's got a sbc/automatic but it's also got a '62 Corvette [aka 49 chevy] complete front suspension and polished wood floors!

I think a couple have one being that 32 5 window with the crude mods...I think it's a typical example of let's build a hotrod even though all the skillsets are not there. Stuff like that happened unquestionably.

OR are you talking about the Ardun powered Black Acey Deucy listed as a 32 Roadster above?

  25. The rough one. I like it’s vibe but not the execution
Was wondering if it’s a ligit vintage build or an attemp to make it look vintage. This site has some really cool odd stuff on it

Hey...the ugly girls need love too. :D
    I'm really liking this thread.
Nostalgic. Different. Cool. A real trip, even.
Thanks for posting, guys. Stogy...awesome stuff.
Even some of the cars with "wrong" and "conflicting" angles do something for me...lol. Some cars are so beautiful, they make me catch my breath. Some cars are so bad-ass, they make my heart-rate climb. Some cars make me smile. Some cars make me laugh. Some might even make me cringe a little...lol. But we need and appreciate every single one of them.
Sorta like all the different kinds of people. Some are put together a little differently. Some more differently than others...lol. But we need and appreciate every single one of us.
    Ok? Alright.
    Alright? Ok. ;) :)
    Everybody have a nice Sunday.

  29. I have 2 thoughts on the bottom one

1 Has a let’s go real fast on salt/lake bed vibe
2 If it’s a legit vintage build, this would go against some of the “they didn’t build hot rods that low” kinda thinking

The one in the middle looks like a drag race only ride until you notice the head lights and front brakes

The chop on the first one Wonder what thoughts here would be if someone built one like that here today?
