Good evening, wondering what most people are running on 15x3.5 weld rims. I just picked up a pair which has new tires 26x7,7 -15 on them. They look nice, but with my rear tires being 275 60 15, I am thinking they might look a little funny. I am looking for another two weld rims for the back that are 15 x10. I was thinking of maybe running 165 60r15 for the front. Right now, the front is 205 50 -15. Again, this for my T bucket. Thank you in advance for everyone's input.
Most if not all Weld wheels I think are pretty OT here. Depending on what you're looking for and what vehicle it's on, there are tire options in the 125 R 15 https://www.cokertire.com/tires/125r15-firestone-f560-blackwall-tire.html and 135 R 15 https://www.cokertire.com/tires/135r15-firestone-f560-blackwall-tire.html tire sizes that say they can go down to a 3.5" wide wheel. I like something a bit taller like a 155 R 15 or 165/80R15 with your tall rear tire.
I just don't want the front being higher than the rear. With the 275's in the rear now they are about 27 or 28 high and the 26x7.5's I believe they are around 26. I will have to look at them 165/80-15 for sure. I might decide to run the ones on there and then switch. I haven't put them on yet because I had to order the washers and lug nuts.
I really think that is what I am looking for. Maybe I can find someone around where I live and make a deal with the new ones I have and trade for some of them. I like the looks of the T Bucket having that difference between front and back.
this is what you want to get. I have run these on my roadster before and the front of my 39 for a short period. I may have another set of new ones in the shop now that i think about it...... Firestone 568741 F560 Blackwall Radial Tire, 165R15 (speedwaymotors.com)
Towel City has a 165 front runner that they shave all the lettering off the sidewall. They say if you need other sizes to call.
I'd use adjustable jack stands and set the car in the stance you want, Then if you need to raise the rear, look into simple suspension changes like relocating shocks or longer shocks. You don't have to get it all the way off the ground, because you want the weight on it, but if you jack under the axles you can see where you need to add or take away something. You probably don't want to get thin sidewalls on the front, but that might be something you like. Maybe start with the right size front tires and then see if the rear suspension needs to raise the rear to the proper stance.
I believe those are radials and the OP is using radials on the rear judging from his p metric tire size. The OP wants more rubber rake. These are 25" tall, I'd put 28 or 29" tall tires in back personally.
@New Comer go here and look at the rules. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-h-a-m-b-rules-guidelines.44274/ Just so you know that this is a traditional hot rod forum focusing on 1965 and older build styles. If it matters to you, your car will instantly become Off topic once you put weld wheels on it. Meaning that you will not be allowed to post pictures of it here. Just thought you should know
