Tires

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by Smiley, Jun 21, 2004.

  1. Hi guy's, I have a question for anyone out there. Is there anyone out there who makes a wide whitewall that will fit a 15x10 rim. Or I've also heard of people cutting or grinding their sidewalls. Is it safe, and how is it done. And does it look right. Thanks for your time and info......Dennis

    <font color="green">SMILEY,

There have been multiple posts on the main board about this lately.

Try doing a search for "whitewalls" and "white walls" and see what pops up.

I'm sure you will find what you are after.

I actually just ground down a set of sidewalls to make WWWs for my Merc. They will outhandle any coker or diamondback (have owned them before in the past...think I am still paying them off) and all in all unless you get REALLY into my tires you wont notice.

About safety I dragged a friend with a 57 Ford through Rt 21 out of Newark last weekend up to about 100+...they didnt give out then and these*****ers were rollin'

Finding the right tire to do is the key though...some are straight and some are pie edged...try Kuhmo Adventures...cheapo tires and they come out pretty nice. They are mostly light duty van/truck so buy 1 and fit it first.

  10. Oldchevyseller.....Thanks for the sites, I did try coker, they said that in August their comming out with a new 285/70R.15 series w/w that will fit a 15X10 Rim. But I think that 70 series tire would look strange on a 10 inch wide rim. But I will check out the other sites. Thanks again. ...Den

  11. Hi Chris...Thanks for the info, Would you mind telling me how and what do you use to grind the tire down to make the whitewall. Are all tires white underneath the black. 'Sorry if it's a stupid question' But I dont know, and I want to learn. Also are their tireshops that do this. Thanks again. .Dennis [IMG]

<font color="green">Did you see This ONE?

There are tire shops that do this they call it "shaving".

You would probably have to find a pretty old school shop.

I believe that only tires with skinny whites or white letters are white underneath.

I could be wrong though, it's happened ONCE before.
