While doing a inspection at my local Discount tire store the other day I came across a set of 16" tires, Cant remember the tire size but they had some height to them probably 31" or 32" tall. I thought that is what my fenderless truck needs so I asked the manager about them but he said they are trailer tires. Would trailer tires not have more carring capacity than a regular car tire? This is not a truck driven everyday or run at high speeds. I have been running regular car tires on my trailer for the last ten yrs and had one blow out while on my way to Colorado and I found a piece of metal in that tire.
So what are the thoughts about running a trailer rated tire on a light weight bobber truck?

Trailer tires on a passenger car is illegal in most states because the cords are layed in differently. Big trucks have steer tires and drive tires for the same reason. Car tires work on a trailer, but trailer tires will last longer in most cases. Most guys put used car tires on a trailer, it would be interesting to see if new car tires lasted on a trailer.

  4. Sand the lettering off the sides with a DA sander and they're not illegal anymore.

They'll work fine for running around town although the ride may be a little rough.

Running them with a little less air should help.
