Yep, any more DMV is weeding this sort of thing out. You need to get a Bonded ***le. It is for the best anyway, especially if you need to make an insurance claim for an accident or theft. You don't want them refusing to pay you, do you?
Well, who knows if Maryland does Bonded ***les or not, but start with your state's motor vehicle department and see how many hoops you have to hop through. Buying an old ***le and using it on your vehicle isn't legal in any state.
There have been a jillion discussions like this in the past. I'd suggest doing a search on 'maryland ***le' to see if you can find anything specific for your application. Also, this site may have some useful information as well: http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=62843
http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Vehicle-Services/REG/***lereg.htm#newvehicles 1-800-950-1MVA Try asking your state licensing and ***ling authority what's required before doing stupid **** like buying a ***le from someone, or getting one of those alleged "***ling agents" from Alabama or Nevada to get you bogus paperwork. Do things right the first time keeps you, and whoever owns that vehicle after you, from getting his balls in a vice over things that are easily taken care of in a legal manner.
Wow, I thought you could only ask ***le questions on Sundays on the HAMB! But Rustynewyorker and the rest who are telling you to jump through the flaming hoops in the correct fashion to get a real and honest ***le for the truck are correct. The only way I would use an old ***le is if I got the hulk with it so that I could cut that hulk up. Then you can honestly say you took two (or more) and made your rod out of them. Here is some info I found Scroll down to MD on this one http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/How_to_***le_a_hot_rod It might be easier to apply for an ***igned vehicle id number. At least I'd look into it. It would be easy enough to come up with a receipt from one person for the cab, from another for the frame and another for the engine plus what ever other and fill out an application for an ***igned vin number http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Resources/VR-198.pdf You do have photos of it all apart with a bare frame, bare cab and engine on the stand and what not to show that it was all in pieces? You just have to impress them that you got it in pieces from different sources and put it together.
