Have a 1952 Buick Special, VIN on door doesn't match # on ***le. Old insurance cards from previous owners match # on ***le, except one which claims it's a 1954 Buick... Some advised there was an issue with '52 Buick Specials and that it may be the # on the engine... Can't locate that #... Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated... All out of state cars have to go through VIN inspection before updating ***le... This is in Oklahoma by the way and ***le is MO ***le... Thanks again...
"Engine numbers were stamped in various locations on the crankcase, usually, or on the cylinder block" - per Standard Catalog of Buick. "All 1952 engine numbers start at 6646230. Special Series 40 engines have "4" suffix," and the rest is irrelevant. 1953 motors begin 6950620. Find that number and you should be in good shape. It has to be there somewhere if they found it to use it in the first place. You might try the AACA Buick forum for likely locations for the engine number. Either way, as long as the number is there somewhere it shouldn't be a big problem. As usual, no two states are alike, and what is a problem in one may only be a minor issue in another.
Thanks guys will take all this into consideration and forge on... Except 1oldtime... sorry, it's not worth time...
