FEAST YOUR EYES ON THIS BEAST!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1956...719?pt=Salvage_Parts_Cars&hash=item4cf5cf092f ...........Poor, Poor Car. You are welcome!
Thanks , I showed it to my kids.... then told them " this is why mom and I don't want you doing drugs!" .
Makes Ya want to puke! But then one mans junk is another man's treasure, wonder if it will get any bids?
Wow what a shame. Hey Eric, ya got room for another project?? It kinda reminds me of those junkyard runaround cars - y'know? Seems like every yard I go to has something like this tearing up & down the aisle with a set of torches and a toolbox or 2 on back of it.
You know...that is probably a good price for that? Lets say you need a dog house, or eaton PS stuff for a '56 ford? I know the PS stuff for cores is through the roof, and fenders will always pull a couple of hundred bucks. My question is, what the hell happened? Someone had big ideas of a Ranchero, but no talent I bet. Nevermind, fenders are toast, its probably worth about 500 bucks or so.
Pretty sweet custom if you ask me.... OOOOH OOOH, If you painted it flat black, painted the wheels red and threw on some www's you could have yerself one of them thar rat rod thangers.
Go easy on my fellow Volunteer. He was doing what we call around here 'thinking out of the box'. The 12 pack box that is!
Actually, Ron, that would be the perfect thing for me to tool around my vast minions. I already gotta extra set of torches and a big, ugly dog...
Y'know, this was a fairly common practice when I was growing up in northern Michigan in the 60s. I saw quite a few rusted out old clunkers that could no longer be licensed or made road-worthy get hacked into "jitneys" - which they were often referred to at that time. Huron-Portland had a big plant in the area too workers there would ****** up older, cheap second-hand cars to drive because of the fallout settled on their cars in the parking lot. Well, add a little moisture (rain, humidity and being right on the shores of Lake Huron) and those cars ended up as "cement plant specials". After awhile the cars looked like a big chunk of concrete with a windshield & 4 tires! It wasn't uncommon to see ads in the paper for something like "54 Buick, cement plant special. Runs good. $100. Call **x-****." So after a first- and second- life many of those old beaters - if they still ran - got the chop job similar to the '56 in this thread. And the results for most of 'em wasn't pretty. Ax and a sledge hammer usuallly did the trick cuz most guys didn't have torches, let alone the know-how to use 'em. I had a guy give me a 'car' that he took the ax & hammer to, it used to be a '57 Ford 2dr sedan but he chopped the back off it, used a piece of corrugated roofing tin for the cab back, and put a box off a late 40s pickup onto it and used it for a wood hauler. We ended up driving it around the farm to haul wood, manure, deer apples etc. for 2 years or so before it went the "blue oval heaven" when I joined the Air Force.
Would make a really nice old drag car hauler . Weld a nice bed on that bad frame and a couple ramps and you have a drag car hauler ! Heck that car might have been made that way to haul lumber , fruit or a bunch of workers from town to the job site . People used the older cars & trucks for a job and if it did fit the bill then they made something out of it to work for what they needed . Was way cheaper than buying a new or used truck to do the same job as the old beater can do . Still a shame to see that butchered up . Think of how many Model T & A were cut up and made in to a working pick up trucks . Money was tight so you did what you had to for the car /truck you needed and couldn't afford , so you made one from the old family car . Jim
i dont believe that to be a project OR a parts car. starting bid of 1000.00 bucks. maybe he is high on moonshine when he posted the ad
OK , I will take a quart ! Can someone get me one ? I know a few HAMBer bring some to Latimore but don't know who is still the ones making that great tasting shine ! The thing that I can't figure out is what is that set up that is bolted on the bumper ? Jim
I always get mine from my family in Oklahoma. Not joking. Definitely can't afford to bootleg it though. Sorry I can't help ya Jim. Cant really tell whats on that bumper either. Im guessing its there to push things with though.
Holy ****! My eyes are now screwed up for good.... that's a site I can't take back to clear my memory.... here comes the nightmares!
