I couldn't justify whacking a car just to be whacking a car. Not every vehicle needs to be cut or dropped or whatever. Personal preference is the name of the game so think hard and do what you have to do.

Subtle 3 in the front and 3-4 in the rear to smooth out the look of the car.
    I think that'd be beautiful.

Maybe cause I got a 54, I'm noticeing more of these around and it seems they all have to be chopped. Some look good some not so good, but my personal taste says no chop. I love the way they look with the bubble roof line, that seems more prominet the lower the car is. But then I've never been a custom fan... so what do I know?

Leave the 50 Chevy as it is...if you want to chop something, get a 30-31 Model A Ford coupe to chop after you build this car as a mild custom.

It's hard to improve on a GM 50's car from the factory. The designers had it right.

  8. Thanks for all the replys. I'm still on the fence about the chop but I did want to share a pic of a nice unchopped 52 (thanks Luke!) It looks great with just a well thoughtout paint jod

Just keep in mind that chopping a top is not something you're going to blow through in a weekend, especially if you've never done one before. It takes someone with a lot of patience, a lot of welding skills and a certain amount of geometry to pull off a good chop.

I don't know you, perhaps you're an accomplished rodder with lots of fab time under your belt, and in that case I'd say go for it. If not, hold off on the chop.

Nice car....A slight chop would be nice as long as you tilt the center pillars foreward at the top, because the back window is tilted so much.....just my opinion

Ratstu did a mild chop on Poncho's ride, I think it was 2 3/4" or 3", I think it looks great.

chopping is so labor intensive and the results sometimes a novice will mess a car up. i certainly would think about where you time and money are best spent.

hmmm well to me your car now looks more like a mexican lowrider (No offence to anyone) if you chop it it would look alot better I think. It would give it a more meaner look. But hey what do I know? lol
