What's wrong with running the radiator in the back? It works in Deaths Doorstep: And this could have the radiator in the back (although it doesn't have one at all). You want to f--- with people, build it drag style, and down use a radiator up front at all.
As I've been trying to stem the tide on chopping everything (I don't think it's necessary in every incidence to make a hot rod) I'll make an exception here. Make your first cut and before you take a section out weld it back together. Can you imagine driving everyone crazy when you confess that it's chopped and revealing you took .060" out of it? You have to know me to understand. Frank
What's wrong with ET streets? They hook really well and are pretty streetable and they have a dot. I don't know much about either of the tires you mentioned I do know they look cool but I also know just about every other T on this site runs them or something similar
Thanks for everybody's opinions, But even though the general consensus Is to chop it (like I knew it would be) I'm going to leave it tall for now and maybe chop it later if I really don't like the way it turns out.
No, we don't have the original header above the windshield, so we're going to make a new one that shorter. Then leave the windshield taller. It should match the door glass a little better, and give better visibility.
This is HOT! I see the Tremec, will you be posting pics here or on your website? I know you're a pro, I look foward to seeing more of this.
Sure, I can post some. The guy that we're building it for is a friend of mine. We're doing the fabrication (frame, chop, etc.) and he's going to finish it himself. He's no welder, admits it, and is therefore a smart cookie.
I'm quite familiar with DD. My girlfriend has been doing an oil painting of it for months. But, respectively, my piece of shit rat rod pickup was NO deaths doorstep. And the radiator in the back was UGG-LEE. To JFRASER- Run the 460, smoke them sportsmens. Have a ball. It won't even be close to a traditional rod though. But thats OK. Now you have views from both sides. Peace to all.
Yup. The best advice my dad gave me was that if you don't know what to do, don't do anything. I'd leave it tall, but then again, my taste has come into question several times for building old Mopar stuff . It's a tall T it's supposed to be tall. There's my two cents for what it's worth.
No way would I chop it, at least until I had it mocked up as far as ride height, wheel size & placement, and motor are conserned. You would be giving up to many options to cut it now like whether to and if so, how much. When it rolls, photoshop it first.
I personally think that EVERYTHING looks better chopped. With the channel you may not want to chop it as much, but that top still needs to come down to look cool... jmho
I built one a few years ago and channeled the crap out of it.....It looked awesome that way, not to mention the Ford 429 i had between the rails....leave it and dare to be different....follow your own path of destruction.
Do you have a side view pic of that car by chance? I plan on going with that style engine but I hear they look funny, and I haven't been able to find pics of one
