Shaun final blocking.JPG Well it has been awhile since the last posting. During this time Shaun has recovered from a four artery by-p*** operation this past winter and is now back "on the job". Last evening he started the final blocking to paint. I do believe we will have it all back together in time for some summer cruising.... :)

The paint in the picture was not original. It was a very poor lacquer job that was crazed and it could not be polished anymore...at least , not by me. Not much of the original running gear is left BUT it will be just the way I like it... Realiable and shiny...

Shaun finished up this evening by block sanding the trunk lid with 400 grit. He then wiped it down with a wet cloth and "Presto" there before me was a sight for sore eyes....WOW !!! Shaun 400 water.jpg

Too late, you've already painted it, but.......for those of you wh DSC05895.JPG DSC05898.JPG o have had a car a long time and are getting bored with the look, build something else before changing your current old love. I learned a valuable lesson this year, I run a 36 ford pickup in black base coat, never had a top coat, for those of you who know....it's covered in Boot's pinstripng, I got bored with the look, and worried about changing her look. I wondered if I repainted, would it be the same truck? The answer is....no it wouldn't be the same truck, and I couldn't get the "look" back if I did. So, I built another car, gained a whole new appreciation for my first love, and am really relieved I didn't paint my old girl, I built it the first time the way I wanted it, it's still the way I want it.

Looks great! You can't beat a slick black paint job AND you're happy.

Wow, what kind of paint did you end up using? Post up some outdoor pics when you can.

Well, after many years, I was able to drive her out of my little shop yesterday. Shaun did a wonderful job on her and I couldn't be happier. I will ask Shaun what brand the base/clear he used and I will post it here. Hapy 9.jpg

Absolutely awesome !! If it were mine ,my only regret was not getting to drive her for 5 or 6 years.

  17. Anyone who says black with red wheels & whitewalls is over done will have to eat crow when they see that car.
