Quick question. I have to cut into the rockers on wagon to paint the inside with rust encapsulating paint. IF I can rig something up to spray the inside through the tiny inspection hole I may try that so I don't have to cut and weld. To that end, can I thin the paint out and pump it through a sprayer or will that decrease its protective potential? I am just trying to not have to cut and weld new tops on the rockers. I will if that is the best way to do this but trying to think outside the box.
Eastwood do a rust encapsulator in a spray can with a nozzle. https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-internal-frame-coating-14oz-aerosol.html
I don’t see why it would not work. Just this as per directions of the manufacturer of the paint. Will probably need multiple coats (2 or 3).
I thinned Rustoleum rusty metal primer enough to spray with a pump-up garden sprayer and it did fine to coat the insides of my '49 Chevy truck doors. Gary
Blue 49, that is actually where I was thinking of going with this idea of mine. I thought I a little nuts about trying it but if someone else did it then I should be able to do it as well.
Ohhhh, I like that idea. The hose might be long enough and the tip looks like it will spray in a wide fan pattern. That looks like a siphon gun which I already have but the hose and tips are what I would I need.
There’s a few different versions. Most come with a 360* tip. we used similar to coat the inside of rockers for collision work
Are these new rockers? If original, using a shop vac, blow gun or maybe a pressure washer to suck/blow or wash away decades worth of dirt, mud, leaves is a great thing to do. Cleaning out the junk and making sure the drain holes are clear are some of the best things you can do.
A paint soaked cloth/ mop type thing on a coat hanger wire should work. Make it where will not hook and get stuck. Make sure the paint does not clog the drain holes.
I just picked up a can of Permatex rust-stop-ish spray "paint" at Ace Hardware. No nozzle but it could be rigged up. I'm working on an OT Belair and will be using it on the floors where surface rust is evident. I had a couple of odd small rust throughs... less that the size of a 1/2 dollar piece. I exorcised those areas and fiberglass patched them. I made sure to get the resin on the flip side of the floor. I'll see if I can apply the Permatex product from the bottom.
It never gets old, does it? We used to say the phrase often at work, and then political correctness kicked in. At the time, Peyton Manning was QB for the Broncos, and during his cadence would say "Omaha". So we decided that we'd shorten "That's what she said" to "Omaha". Shelly: "Look at the size of that thing!" Carla: "It's huge!" Billy: "Omaha."
I like it. I got my kids saying it when my wife was still alive. At dinner I dropped a black olive in the carpet, picked it up and said, "this is too hairy to eat". Then one of the kids took the ball and ran with it... mom was not pleased...
My fault….should have seen that one coming. Yes these are the original rockers and all the drain holes are clean. That may have been what saved them.
