That car in that image isn't running a turbo. It's running a belt-driven centrifugal blower. Looks like maybe a McCollough (???).
I wouldn't run an intercooler - fab gets complicated in a hurry with a roots. I would run a water/meth injection though. My brother's car was 8# and you could see it in his coolant temps it was that dramatic. As far as turbos and traditional - Ak Miller.
